Kumoricon is exploring a possible opportunity to present some programming at the Dragon Moon Festival.

We may have the opportunity to present three cosplay shows, one per weekend, each lasting an hour. These dates would be June 7, July 5, and August 2 (all Sundays).

Before we commit to this we need to make sure we have enough interest from cosplayers. Cosplay skit groups and walk-on cosplayers, please post here or email publicity@kumoricon.org if you are interested! If we have enough interest, we can commit to this opportunity and then we will follow up with the groups to take sign-ups, plan a schedule, and figure out details like length of skits, stage size, and so on.

I'm new, but I'm definitely interested! If my school and work schedules don't change by then, I can go :)

We're working out the details and logistics and I'll be in contact once we know times, show parameters, etc.

If I can get my skit ready and done, we could probably do it in Aug.

Skit artist, I have potentially filled the June slot for one of our skits.  We have August potentially filled as well.  I still need at least two interested groups, and if anyone is good for this, a back up group just in case.

Ok everyone.  It sounds like Bang Bang Neko will be spearheading the skits, performing first in June.  As futher information, you do not have to have a 30 minute skit prepared.  We may do like 2-3 10-15 minute skits.  If you are interested, contact me @ gatomon02@gmail.com.  Thanks everyone!

I just received notice of an important schedule change:

The July 4-5 weekend event has been canceled, but the August and September events will continue.

Quote
After careful consideration, the Dragon Moon Festival Committee has decided to cancel the July Dragon Moon Festival. We've realized that even with your generous support our target audience of families and those interested in food, culture and entertainment have fewer resources this year and we are shifting our plans to align with the economic realities of Oregonians this summer. For us that means we should not compete with other city wide events including local back yard parties and the Waterfront Blues Festival held during the celebratory July 4th holiday.

To this end – our next Dragon Moon Festival will be on August 1st and 2nd. By doing so, we will be able to position the festival for greater success. We'll see you in August!

By focusing on the August weekend we can hopefully put on the strongest impression by having our cosplayers perform all in one weekend.

Unfortunately, the entire remainder of the Dragon Moon Festival events for 2009, after the June event, have been canceled. The Dragon Moon Festival is planning on returning for 2010. Thanks to those who participated and attended in June!
