Post by: JeffT on September 03, 2009, 04:39:41 am

Kumoricon will be participating in Festival Japan at Uwajimaya again, Sep. 26-27 (Sat-Sun).

I'll post more info after Kumoricon, but for now, mark your calendars!

UPDATE:

Kumoricon will be hosting a booth at the Festival Japan 2009 at the Beaverton Uwajimaya.

The ninth annual Festival Japan, presented by Japan-America Society of Oregon, NW Natural, and Uwajimaya, runs for two days on the weekend of Sep. 26-27, 2009, and showcases performances, exhibitions, cultural demonstrations, and food to increase awareness and appreciation of Japanese culture. Festival Japan is focused and designed for family entertainment.

We will be selling pre-registrations to Kumoricon 2010.

Any volunteers who would like to help staff the booth, answer questions, and take registrations, please email publicity@kumoricon.org.

Location:

Uwajimaya Plaza
10500 SW Beaverton-Hillsdale Hwy
Beaverton, OR 97005

The event runs from 11am-5pm on Saturday and Sunday, Sep. 26-27, 2009.

I don't know why school would stop ya, just get that back pack schedule and outfit ready a day or two before and you wont need to worry about it.  As for distance, ya it its out of the way, I think tri-met goes over there if you live in the portland area and don't have a car. Otherwise :/

Well, I'm one of those people who like to be very prepared. I guess I could put aside that side of me for a day. ^ ^;

As for the distance and transportation, I could always bus or train over there... I dunno. I'll figure something out. owo;;

Sure.  If you stop by the booth and offer to help watch it for a bit, then those of us stuck there all day can get away and see the rest of the events.

Title: Re: Festival Japan at Uwajimaya, Sep. 26-27
Post by: camname21 on September 17, 2009, 12:46:19 am
According to the website for last year, 30$ was the cost for pre reg. until the end of december.  This should be close to the same time frames for 2010, and so I would say yes 30$.

You sure can, just hit up the booth.  Was there today and I saw at least 12 staff show for some time, not all were there to help but still hung out a bit.  There might not be too much to do after set up, so you will probably have plenty of time to check out the event (just depends on how many show up to help and help, oh and bring money for food snack food ^.^).

Was there all day today and it was fun ^_^. Though as people have said, once everything is set-up, it's a lot of sitting around and talking to people about Kumoricon so people will deffinately have a chance to also check out the festival. I love taiko drumming!

If anyone plans on going tomorrow, please stop by and say "hello!" (and pre-reg for 2010!)

hi to the team and pick up some ramune! Grrar! Fail on my part! Oh well,
I will just need to keep a better watch on the events and goings-ons in
coordination with k-con!

Don't worry- Uwajimaya has a bunch of cultural festivals throughout the year and Kumoricon almost always participates ^_^. If you missed this festival, there's always another one! :)

Besides the neat booths and people (some music if you're into it), the only thing you really missed was the massively long line for fried fishy snacks with cream inside.  Not sure what they are called but there was like a 20person line half the day saturday!
