Title: Where has all the passion gone?
Post by: DancingTofu on November 12, 2009, 06:02:09 pm
I just haven't had any enthusiasm for doing any sort of con work lately.  What's missing?  Anyone want to offer some inspiration?

It's the calm before the storm... honestly... I just waiting to be officially a
staff member and then my gears will be in full motion... there is so much work
to be done!

I think whats lacking here is a direction and a need. Once we know WHAT needs
to be done this year we can start doing it, but until the board is complete and
the staff can start registering... it's going to be a long wait.

The con is quite a while away, and people are at school?

Maybe because you haven't been to a con in a little while you are not inspired or it could be the opposite. Because you been to a con recently you don't want to do any work.

I wanna do something to gear up for MEWcon, but everything seems to be going so slowly. And then the next time you look up, it's one month away, then the week of. I have a manga entry in mind but I can't find the time or space to draw it. I need one day at the library with nothing but a lot of snacks, pencils, paper, erasers, a good ruler, and a CD player with 10 clean discs packed with good music.

Yo Yo Yo. Go get manga studio on your PC. That's a good way to draw manga becuase now most manga is digital. A drawing pad too!

Drink some Geek Beer.  You should be fine after that.

I'd need a scanner to go with it, and that's in line for my grand webcomic plan. But with what I have to work with, I just need to find a full day at the library, where there are vast tables to sprawl pages and stuff out on.

Maybe next Monday I can do that and hunt down the manga studio in the meantime.

I was actually mainly referring to MEW Con; I won't know if and how I'll be involved in Kumoricon next year until February.  For MEW Con though, I need to get a rough draft of the schedule crafted, contact all of the panelists, managers, coordinators, and all of the programming staff, plan opening and closing ceremonies, and get in touch with Guy regarding AMV's.  It's only about 6 hours of work to do, then I'll be clear until the beginning of December, which is when I aim to have a schedule available to the public, but for some reason I just can't find the energy to get it done. :/

That's one of the things I love about being Pocky Club Coordinator. I always know what work needs to be done and I can start doing it anytime.

This weekend is time for another newsletter, for instance.

OOh... Newsletters! Yay!

I think what I need to start doing is actually writing little words on the note book I have
infront of me that reads "KUMORICON NOTEBOOK" but all I can do is doodle little chibi-kitty
people with umbrellas....

Oddly enough I get the most work done for the convention while at work. It's the slow
season and I have to stay alert, which is easiest to do when I am occupied with something
that challenges my mind. At home.. I just want to take naps!

Do this.

I worked on the schedule a bit today.  Mainly formatting, but I think I'll try to get all the panels entered into the schedule this weekend, and shoot an update to panelists.  I might try getting main events done this weekend too.
