p.s. i think it would be really awesome if we could get a group together hopefully
 we can get all 11 doctor but if not i wont cry too hard. Let me know if you are interested please

But I have a Human!TARDIS and possibly a Weeping Angel that you have at your disposal!

...I mean what's the Doctor without his TARDIS.

Though my angel and I are actors...so >D Communicating with us during Con might be difficult.

Since nobody else is talking on this, I'm gonna plan the shoot.
How does 1:00 pm on Monday at the park blocks sound?

Edit: If nobody responds to this in 24 hours saying "NOOOO That is the wrong time for meee," I am just going to post it on the meet thread and hope someone shows up.

Hi, I am thrilled to see this group is here. I only recently started watching Dr. Who. Thus far I have seen only: The 1st 2 parts of the original 1960s pilot (An Unearthly Child), and the first 5 or so eps of Series 1 (Christopher Eccleston & Rose).

I happen to have a dress that looks similiar to what Rose wears in The Unquiet Dead (3rd ep; Charles Dickens ep). I was planning to see if I could accessorize it and thus sort of look loli while also cosplaying.

I also have this elaborate dream of cosplaying the TARDIS. So I would LOVE to know how the person posting that they have TARDIS cosplay, pulled it off!

In my vision, I would get a refrigerator box, put arm holes through it but mostly have it wrapped around me like a cape, paint the outsides to look like the police box, then have gizmos attached to the inside of the cardboard that look like the sort of glorified paper plate round things (no idea if there's a word for those). Then I would try to have my body look like the kinda glowy thing in the middle, & attach around my waist things that looked like keyboards or whatnot....

Is that about what you did, Rosemustang?? Does the above sound plausible?

I'll try really hard to rustle up my old suit. The pants are way too tight for me now, but Ten's pants are kinda tight for him as well - so, *shrug.*
Here's my problem: Calvin (of "and Hobbes" fame,) blond hair. Ten, brown hair. My hair currently: neon pink. My natural hair color: brown. My hair length by the time of the con: not long enough, unless I keep the pink. Ergh.
BUT NO WORRIES. I'll find a solution. Trust me, I'm a Doctor. ;)

A wig for one? Let's see. The Doctor would look less realistic with a wig than Calvin would, so... a wig for Calvin.

It was my intention to pull that together for Orycon, which is in November. I will let you know within a month or so if I can pull it off for Kumori. I can take a look at the condition of the blond wig I bought last year for my Luna Lovegood cosplay sometime in the next few weeks (it's in a storage bin)

Hm, well seeing the sad under representation of Who on here, it's entirely possible, although by no means guaranteed that I could whip up a Sarah Jane or possibly Jamie cosplay.

If I did do something, it'd likely be Sarah Jane's outfit from Hand of Fear, as I already have a pattern for overalls, and candy stripe fabric can't be THAT hard to find.

Oh dear, I'm speaking a foreign language here, aren't I?

Haha I adore that idea. But that is noooot how I did it. I did a human TARDIS version.

And I revamped it this year to look a little more like the TARDIS.
Maybe. I have five hundred different costume designs for it.
But the design I'm using is changing for Kumori :D

Love the human TARDIS. My dream version of constructing it would involve a lot of cardboard. Basically walking around inside a carboard police box, with intricate accessories on it and on me when the "doors" opened.

And if not I'll just go with a half-assed Jamie, being as I have that kilt already, and a black sweater, and really that means I'm a vest and a sporran and an ascot away from a good cosplay, and a vest and an ascot away from a mediocre one.

So I just watched The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. And it just dawned on me. That Union Jack that Rose wears. I used to wear one of those. In high school. When I was a huge fan of a band that had worn them on an album cover. A British band. Called THE WHO!!! Really. I wonder if there was a connection??? They started in the '60s.... I literally LOL'd when I realized.....

Presently watching Boom Town. Aiming to finish series 1 tonight or tomorrow. Dreading the exit of beloved Christopher Eccleston. I had realized I had recognized him, took me awhile to place where (Heroes).

I don't have a favorite episode, but favorite moments: Hellz yeah!

Here they are (in no particular order)
1) When the horrible dude gets the information reader thing installed in his head on Satellite 5 and the doctor and Rose keep opening and closing it by snapping xD
2) When the Dalek is going to kill capt. Jack and it says "exterminate" then Jack says "I kinda figured.
3) When Mickey figures out that he's "the metal dog" (i.e K-9)
4) When the doctor introduces himself as "Sir doctor of TARDIS"
(I could go on, but I won't)

My favorite are mostly all with the 11th- gotta love him. I do have some favorite 9 moments, and a few 10.

 11 - "“Hello Mr Jorgennson, can you hold? I have to eat a biscuit."

10 - Jack: Aww sweet, look at these two. How come I never get any of that?
The Doctor: Buy me a drink first.
Jack: You're such hard work!
The Doctor: But worth it.

9 -     Jackie: I'm in my dressing gown.
    The Doctor: Yes, you are.
    Jackie: There's a strange man in my bedroom.
    The Doctor: Yes, there is.
    Jackie: Anything could happen.

These crack me up every time.

I have to say, Blink and Waters of Mars and Silence in the Library and Time of the Angels and The Empty Child are all pretty scary the first few times, but the only thing that really really really freaks me out still is the Cybermen in Tomb of the Cybermen. Okay, and The Empty Child a bit too.

But seriously guys.

The Classic Who Cybermen are so much more worrying than the new ones. Their voice. Oh my god. Their voice is the voice of my nightmares.

The Cybermen were sorta ruined for me when the Daleks totally ripped them to bits... I was already pretty scared of Daleks, but Cybermen had always scared me more...

All those lines are classic. I finished series 1 around 2:30 am, started series 2 around 5:30 am, watched all the extras on disc 1 first actually.
Still prefering 9 over 10 but giving him time to grow on me.
Was really surprised when the prime minister shot down the leaving ship in the Xmas special & how cold the Dr. became to her after.
Really makes me want to watch Torchwood.
So. Is it that I should wait til done with all of Who to watch Torchwood? Or where does it intersect w/the series?
My ex told me I'd like the Captn Jack in Torchwood even better than the one in Dr. Who; how do they differ?

I'd say the biggest difference is that in 'Torchwood' Harkness is in his own turf while in 'Doctor Who' the doctor knows more.

First, it's an amazing show that is very different then Doctor Who, strictly for adults, but it is amazing.

If I'm correct, the shows cross for Utopia and the next episode for Doctor Who/end of season one for Torchwood and in the middle if season two of Torchwood is The End of Time in Doctor Who.

Those are the only ones I can remember. :D

Captain Jack is much more carefree in Doctor Who, but he's really caring and deeper in Torchwood. And he still will shag anything that moves.

I saw a video on Youtube that was a compilation of Capt Jack smooches & it looked like he was kissing James Marsters, Spike from Buffy & Angel?? Um, yeah that's a must see for me. I actually had a dream last night, after watching the first 3 discs of Series 2 of Dr. Who, that was like a real person insert fanfic Dr. Who cross with what I imagine Torchwood might be like. Basically in real life, a few months ago, my childhood girlfriend died a tragic death. Having seen Father's Day, I know within show canon I couldn't just go back & make her not have died without the Reapers claiming virtually everyone else. But in my dream it was like, traveling with 9th Dr & Rose for some reason not made clear in the dream, I thought I was seeing a ghost because I was seeing my friend who died. In real life, she designed packaging for kids' crafts & games. In this dream, she designed for kids a kit on how to make your own miniature toy spaceship. Someone from Torchwood snapped her up to see if she were actually an alien and/or what contact she'd had with aliens, because her rendering of the dimensions, shape, details was very accurate to a specific ship from a specific planet. (This part of the dream may have been influenced by my friend sending me the geekiest gift ever: The Serenity Blueprint Reference Pack.) Turned out something her parents had convinced her that she had imagined as a child, had been a real spaceship that she had seen/been briefly teleported aboard, & somehow the experience had gifted her with Eidetic (photographic) memory. So Torchwood had her fake her death so she could work for them making illustrations & blueprints of various alien crafts & technologies without anyone from her life finding out about The Institute. I might actually turn this into a personal little fanfic for myself as therapy; during the dream it felt really good to imagine her still being alive & finding deeply meaningful expression for her genuine artistic talent.

Anyone else dream in the Dr. Who-verse?

I have a friend from the other side of the country who sent me a knit Dalek (it's amazing, but not the point), and I've been doing a bit of a travelling photo project with it, so she can tour the PNW through photos with "Dalek Cullen" (we so named him because he's sparkly, it's a bit ridiculously hilarious). AND I want to know if it would be cool if I dropped by the shoot on Monday (?) to get a couple photos to add to the tumblr account for her?

I have been especially loving the Series 2 Confidential Cut-Downs.

It is epic that the Absorbaloff was designed by a 9-yr-old.

It is the ultimate in fan respect that Davies had the show hold a contest for kids via Blue Peter, whatever TV show that is, to design a Dr. Who Monster.

OMG AWESOME.

Haven't found any of the kid-oriented "Totally Dr. Who," though. But I love that Davies was saying they would play Dr. Who on the schoolyard, "Who's going to be the Doctor? Who's going to be the Companion?" & pick adventures. That shoulda been my childhood :)

I ended up writing a filk about Rise of the Cybermen / Age of Steel.
So, though I might still pull out the Dickensian formal gown that resembles what Rose wore in 1 x 03, The Unquiet Dead, I am leaning towards the caterer costume from that double-ep in case I perform the filk. Of course I still have to find my wig & see if it's still usable.....

Meantime if the photo shoot is still Monday & not at con, I probably will still be giving a panel during it. There in spirit, though.

Sorry, I haven't watched any of the other companions yet, except for two out of four of the pilot episodes from the very first year in the 60s, & then the school reunion ep with Anthony Head where Sarah Jane Smith returns with K-9. I could look for characters with brown hair, what can I say. Were I going to be anyone, I would want to be the girl/tree who saves the world in Rose's first intergalactic adventure (1 x 02). *That* would take some serious effort. I loved how she said "Ooh! How intimate" when 9th Doctor offered her "the air from my lungs" as his "gift". And I have baby birch trees I could give out as "clippings of my grandfather" :)

How funny, the one ep I've seen with her, she's 30 years older (but looks only 20 years older), & the doctor is technically 30 years older, too (but looks 40 years younger) (if that's the doctor there with her). (I don't know the pre-2005 doctors.)

PS Taking Soramunesanszun's pet peeve into consideration it wouldn't be that hard for me to change the maid-ish outfit from Rose's in Rise of the Cybermen to Gwyneth's in The Unquiet Dead.

Also just got a couple Doctor Who books out of the library. I wanted to be able to better relate to love for the Doctors before #9 so got a book that is a 20-year retrospective starting with the 1st Doctor. Then also one of the novels. Won't have time til after con though. But really wanting to put some planning in for Orycon cosplay.

I just read last night that the same actress who plays Gwyneth in The Unquiet Dead plays Gwen Jones in Torchwood. Someone burned me some Torchwood, it will be my birthday present after con. Woot!

Exciting, then we'll probably do TARDIS and Angel both Sunday and Monday, and then do our Nightmare before Christmas costumes on Saturday :]

But My human TARDIS costume basically looks like a fancy runway display, but it's basically a dress. And it looks like the doors are open slightly, but glowing? And it's complicated to explain but we're still doing some touch ups to it. So it'll be a surprise. but you'll know us when you see us.

buuut like the hard part of my TARDIS costume is I don't talk.

@Soundninja, I specifically remember in the hospital in New New (x15) York, The Face of Boe seeming a little cagey/gamey/cutesy with The Doctor, about whatever that epic secret was that he wasn't quite yet willing to part with. And thinking that seemed like he was on familiar term with the Doctor. But I didn't read more into it than remembering him from "The End of  the World" until I read in a "bio" of Jack about that possible link and I about went "that would be considered such crack fanfiction if it weren't allegedly future canon".

@ Sora, Heck yeah, you take a pic of you two in that pose and that is *so* going to be my favorite.

Except @ Rose Mustang, OMG, a dress with glowing doors? Okay you are now my hero and I must meet you. (Hopefully everyone, I will be keeping my eye out, I just...mostly never get to leave Creation Station, & will be there much less this year due to commuting home to Eugene nightly.)

I <3 Nightmare, too, btw. A bit sad for me; my pal we called Bone Daddy, who was super-tall & at times cosplayed Jack (as well as Darth Vader), passed away a few years back. May he rest in peace.

Haven't "met" Gwen yet, but OMG someone is DLg me Torchwood for my bday!!!! (which is shortly after con).

@ Sora, ooh, Bad Wolf Powers, then if we have a 9, he could just "have" to kiss you to save you. Aw shucks.

I loved the scene where Cassandra-possessed Rose surprises 10 with a whopper of a snog!

@ Rose, stalk away! Creation Station is in the rooms called "Council" and "Directors", on the 3rd floor of the Hilton side of con. I will mostly be there mid to late morning & early to late afternoon, as I am commuting to Eugene nightly for cat care & health care reasons. I'm also on the Religion in Anime & Manga panel, 1p-3p in the Galleria II on Sunday (basement across from ballroom).Balance fail...I've been having a little of that with things I've been putting on my head as well. (1) Stuffed animal for costume from "Theatricality" ep of Glee (Rachel's 1st Lady Gaga costume). (2) Doilie-like thing on head for Gwyneth. I have 2 types I've been trying, one is fancier/satiny, one is more like a linen napkin with lace, both not easy to try to pin on. And you remain on pedastal for even trying, so there, hah.
@ Sk_chan, I haven't watched any 11 yet, looking forward to checking that out eventually.
@ Soundninja, the Jack-Jack kiss? I haven't watched Torchwood, but that, that I have seen:)

Here is the pic Melody from School of Lolita & from Creation Station's "How to Hustle Your Bustle" panel (with Kimmi King) took of me. You can just barely see all the bustle in the back, but it was quite lovely. There are also several layers of real crinoline, etc., built into the dress; I was quite lucky to find it at a vintage store that carries items from estate sales. This was for being a Dickens' era maid, a la, Gwyneth from "The Unquiet Dead". However, to make it more authentic for the future, I would need the type of apron that has straps up to the shoulders. Though that takes away from the corseting effect of the lovely dress.

Please do post pix of the photo shoot! In particular I jones to see the Big Ben Captain Jack/Rose dip pose! Ooh sultry!
