Post by: veraca on July 01, 2010, 06:17:48 pm
Yeah I know pre-reg isn't open yet, but who's planning and/or excited for sakuracon 2011? ^^

*cries* I wish sakuracon'd fix their cosplay forum already.. it's painful..

Yup totally going!!! I think I get to skip school on the friday to drive up there too! so then we would get there in the morning and not at 9 pm xD I wana leave early to miss traffic, but I forgot what the time limitations are on licenses for 16 year old xD I think that 3 of my friends are gonna come too! Including Katie

In Washington the time limits are 1am-6am. I know cause I couldn't drive home from Dez's house one time when I had my permit cause it was 2am so I had to nap and play vid games for another few hours until 6am passed. Time limits don't apply if you have your license though, but it might be different if you're under 18.. I don't remember that.

The cosplay threads are messed up for me. Newest replied to ones don't appear at the top so I gotta do ctrl+f and open Find to find my threads and see if they're replied to xD;

Oh wow, that is pretty crazy. o_o Well I guess they don't tend to fix anything on there to much considering the forums aren't frequented that much until around con time.

Hey Haley I talked to some of my friends who go to Sakuracon a lot and they leave at rush hour since traffic is going into Portland from Seattle, thus there's no traffic once you get to Seattle.

But yeah hopefully I'm going for '11 :D '10 was super fun, my first big con~

I have the luxury of where I stay for both cons is free so I can go in a day or two ahead and leave a day after... O pick up my friends from Portland and we head up to Seattle, when we've gone for day 1 driving up, at about 1am... But I was also 18 by then and had my license..

I'm funny. I look forward to driving for cons. It makes me maintain my car cause it has to drive not just the 3 hours from home to college, but the 3 hours from cons to college and home, and so on~ ^^

I'm not entirely sure on who I'm going as.. So far it's looking like definately Emil Castagnier and Zelos Wilder, both from Tales of Symphonia. I'm planning to do two others but it'll be really iffy to see how things come together throughout the year. Also hoping to do Link maybe.

I'm hoping to go to S-con. If not, Anime Boston here I come.

But for S-con seeing as I might go, I thought up my list looooong ago.

Bones [Star Trek]
Sync. Akita Neru [Vocaloid]
Nirvana [BlazBlue]
Aigis [Persona 3 FES]
Chase [House MD]

That's it hopefully. >:C

My G/F & I will be attending as usual. She will be Misa Amane (Death Note) & is working to finish her Amber Sweet (Repo! The Genetic Opera)...I will be wearing my Repoman (Repo! The Genetic Opera) for sure & maybe have my Pip-Boy (Fallout Series) done by then as well. I have my Genesis (FF Crisis Core) complete mostly but not sure I will bring it.

I wouldn't say that going up during rush hour is good advice. I have friends & family in Seattle that I travel up there to visit frequently...traffic is always bad during rush hour lol. A good majority of the time, I leave really early morning or late evening to avoid traffic...morning being the best option.

Also, once again I will be arranging a WingDome meetup for Sakuracon when time gets closer. Anyone is welcome to join...I will have detailed info posted near con time.

Excited for Sakuracon! So far my plans are only Stella from Interstella 5555, Cassandra from Soul Calibur II, Nino from Arakawa Under the Bridge and Arcueid from Tsukihime/Melty Blood. I might try to cosplay as this one cow gijinka from this game my friend would like me to do.

You can reserve the room still...just need to have the hotel make a note on the reservation that you will be using the event discount code as soon as it's available. Then you just call the hotel when the Sakura-con team has it all setup & have them add the code to your reservation :D Or you could just wait lol...makes no difference really, I just like to have it all taken care of at one time lol.

I asked Yanimator in Artist's Alley at Kumoricon if he had any Devil May Cry art, and he said he'd have some at Sakuracon, so... I HAVE to go.  :D Especially since I most likely won't be able to go to Akicon or Mewcon. :-[ Also, more cons to go to is a definite plus... also more reason(s) to make cosplays. :D

I have Vergil from Devil May Cry, Allelujah from Gundam 00, and Ren from Fragile Dreams in mind, but... I'm not sure, especially since this is my senior year of high school, so I will have very little time for anything. :P

I'm doing a little experiment with Akicon this year, and if it works, it's what im going to do for sakuracon.
basically, last year my friend's mom rented a van and reserved a few hotel rooms. we then had a massive carpool/ party van up there, and i want to see if i can pull that off too

I'll be:
The Dead Master from the B*RS OVA
Gakuko Kamui from VOCALOID
And Maybe Sebastian if I can drag my Bochan along.
If not I'll be Tamaki Souh from Ouran.

I'm pretty sure I haven't posted here yet. ._.

I'm planning on going and dragging a sibling and a friend up. |D

As far as cosplays, I'm going as Succession & Normal! Austria, and Fem!RED Spy. I have another one sorta planned, but it depends on if another friend can make it to Sakura~

So I finally have all my cosplay figured out for what I want to do. I can't do much though considering Sage and I are making like 4 costumes from Blazblue for our friends. I still need to finish mine too. Yeah, this con might end up being hectic.

Now all I need to do is Pre-reg and finish my costumes. Lol

My sister and I are gonna try to go if we can, but it's kinda far, and hotels can be expensive. I mentioned it to my mom, and she vaguely said "Maybe we could have a little family vacation." If that actually happens, I'm so excited. As far as practical cosplay for the con goes, it has to be something small and enough to pack, functional enough to wear comfortably, in case I need to wear it in the car, and not too fragile, for many reasons.  ;)
But I really hope we can go. It's a bit pricier than Kumoricon, but looking at last year's guests of honor, I will go if it is at all possible.  ;)

I have a few cosplay possibilities that I'm going through. The main one being Graverobber from REPO.

I has a question. Is Sakuracon more or less fun than Kumoricon? Also, is there more or less things to do at Sakuracon?
Title: Re: Sakura Con 2011 (Apr 22-24)
Post by: Fuyuko on September 30, 2010, 10:05:56 pm
@Saki: From my personal experience, I find both cons to be fun in their own ways. I still can't decide which one I favor the most though.
I like Sakuracon because of the ideal location (at a convention center) as well as where it's situated: in the middle of the city, literally right across from the Sheraton which I've always stayed at since my first time going. ^.^ There's also a ton of stuff to do. The Dealer's Hall there is AMAZING. <3
Now, I like Kumoricon just as much because the people there seem more laid back and friendly, and you feel more personal with them than at a super large con like Sakuracon. I'm assuming it's because Kumoricon has a smaller community, although it has been growing rapidly like whoa.

I agree with Fuyuko. They both have their own pro's and con's. Some more than others. But it depends.

@Katie

DO IT. I MISS YOU.

Wait, who are you cosplaying?

I have my Sakuracon list sorted! It only took a couple months of cajoling my cosplay group. : D
I'm probably most excited for our genderbent Hanna's Not a Boy's name group. The characters are written in a way that reads gender neutral, so they're perfect candidates for being bent. >w<
And I get to be the schoolboy Antichrist on fire, so this'll be a good con.

Just some info and stats for those who are curious what Sakura-con offers:

Here's this past years con schedule: http://www.sakuracon.org/programming/schedule.php (http://www.sakuracon.org/programming/schedule.php)

I believe we had over 1,100 Hours of programming to choose from (I was co-coordinator for 3 cosplay chess games, 2 crossplay panels, parent's guide to anime panel and helped with the ballroom dance 101 panel)
And yes we are a full 24 hour convention.

Here's the Exhibitors Hall Map so you can get an idea of how many vendors we have:
http://www.sakuracon.org/exhibitors/Exhibitors_Hall_2011.pdf (http://www.sakuracon.org/exhibitors/Exhibitors_Hall_2011.pdf)

And here's the Map of the Convention Space so you can get an idea of the layout:
http://www.sakuracon.org/location/SC2010_WSCTC_GeneralMaps.pdf (http://www.sakuracon.org/location/SC2010_WSCTC_GeneralMaps.pdf)

I really like both conventions as they offer fun and different things. I also like how both are all volunteer organized and run, including alot of the programming.

Hope that helps,
Cheers
Kato

And I'm trying to decide whom else I wanna bring...I think I only want to have 3 cosplays to make it easy...Here's my list of possibilities:
Envy (FMA), Akito (Air Gear), Synchronicity! Kaito (Vocaloid), and Joker (Kuroshitsuji).
I already have one, being Graverobber...

I think I'm gonna make DWC Miku instead of wearing Kaito...Kaito is so uncomfterble and i got a rash from the binding for it xD.

So my line up is looking like:
Kiki (kiki's delivery service), Kida (DRRR!!), DWC Miku, Luki (DOGS). And there is a chance that I'll be doing Panty's premier dress for a dance...not sure on that one though.

Not sure...maybe they ripped more people off & got too many complaints or something. We stayed there 2 years ago & somebody that works there stole about $800 from our friends credit card that was on file to hold the room. She had to report them & go to court over it...don't think she ever did get it settled.

If I go, it'll either be because I'll be asked to go as a KCon rep, (which I'm not if I'm even being considered or not), or with my anime club; however, we're STILL having issues with enough people coming to the meetings for us to seriously focus on choosing which con option we want to take.  Our other options are: Fanime Con, May 28-30 in San Jose; Anime Expo, July 1-4 in Los Angeles; Ani-Jam, August 20-21 in Fresno; Ani Ida Con, date delayed in Boise.  I personally like going with Sakura-con or Ani-Jam, myself, but people aren't coming by enough for us to make an acceptable discussion & vote on the matter.

Sam: And by "people you're cosplaying with" you mean me, right? xD
I'm adding to mine too.
Add:
Diachi
Keseki
And
The 2nd Doctor

It all depend on who I can get done in time, though.
And it means I'll likely be cutting some people off of my list.
Like how I'm not wearing Carl for more then a photoshoot.

Taokaka from Blazblue-Definitely
Maria from Arakawa;under the bridge-Definitely
Pai, neolucky's OC-possibly
Ruffnut from HTTYD-possibly

It all depends on if I want to have that many costumes for the weekend. And if I can get Pai done in time. But I really hope I do. I have way less to work on for this con than any other year that I've gone.

OH MAN YES
This Sak is going to be all about hangouts and photoshooting. Maybe going to Brette's 18+ Hetalia panel if she gets that off the ground.

I've been a couple times. 2009 was all right, just kinda getting a feel for my first really big convention. 2010 was a disgusting mess on a personal level, but the con itself was sweet. So pretty much 2011 is going to be the best Sakuracon yet because I have so many totally wicked people to hang out with this year and have removed possible causes of dramu.

Hey, sounds like everyones plans are progressing nicely. Just wanted to mention that there are also many staffing opportunities for Sakura-con.
You can get in touch with the various departments here: http://www.sakuracon.org/volunteering/jobs.php (http://www.sakuracon.org/volunteering/jobs.php)
as well as go onto the forums and look under the staff wanted area.

Staffing's a great way to make alot of new friends and enjoy benefits like your badge is covered, no standing in lines for your badge, reserved seating at events, staff only autograph session, access to the food in staff preservation hospitality room, staff T-shirt & goodies to name a few.

I can personally say that staffing & the people I meet at con are highlights for me and well worth the effort I put in.

Cheers!
Kato

We better bro out! I'll mostly be attached to Maddy but when she does her Hetalia thing I need other peeps to chill with. I am going to try really hard and get Xianghua done, the only other new cosplay I'll have for Sakuracon is Mimiru and that's mostly armor stuff which is a lot easier to me than sewing stuff.

I've been preregged since online prereg opened. Got my room at the Hilton as well.

Now to figure out my cosplay list. Hmm:

Boba Fett will probably be wearable by then.
Definitely the twi'lek
Hoshi
Matthew Patel? Even though I'm not the right gender for your crazy genderbending cosplays, I don't care, I need to wear that to more than one con <.<
Maybe Johnny. Though not being able to carry the gun totally sucks. Damn no disabled airsoft policy.

I know I'm going to wear it during the night on Day 1 because it's comfortable. Possibly Day 2 as well if I get tired of Nino's wig. Also I'm so stoked for your Hoshi.

Himo, himo, himo, himooo~

Once again i shall be Henry Townshend. It's actually rather appropriate an adult cosplaying as an adult.

I'll be attending Sakuracon '11 with minimal trouble. My seasonal work dries up a week before the con and the only issue I ever have in Seattle is finding a place to eat and someone that is willing to share their room. I usually travel around or on the holidays so everything tends to be all screwed up when I'm there. I've taken a liking to cosplay and vocaloid these days so if I'm not a complete fatty by then I'll probably be cosplaying a very evil looking Kaito. :)

Remember the cheap end of pre-reg ends today so if you haven't done that you might want to. I'm going to try finding a roommate before registering if possible though.

You win an Earthy sugar delight(and maybe an Internet).
It was recently decided by my parental figure that I need to pay off 30k in loans in 2 years while going to school full time.
That's absurdly funny. Whatever you're learning better be worth at least 8x that. I don't have time to sit around in a class for 4 years wondering if the job I'm studying for will be feasible after graduation. I'm not sure how you're able to rack up a 30K debt in half that time but more power to you. Time is too precious and the size of everyone's debts are going to be their only defining measure of "wealth" for the next 10 years. I hope the leaders wake up soon. Destroying the middle class will only cause massive mutiny and the destruction of this country. :/

Also, I somehow managed to find a roommate for Sakuracon before I pre-registered last night. Now is the time to figure that stuff out because we all know Seattle doesn't play by traveler's rules. It's big and expensive and gets worse the more you wait. It's almost as bad as trying to find your own room in LA during Anime Expo.

What, that doesn't even make sense. Isn't the point of a loan that you don't have to start paying it back until after you finish your schooling?

No, Kumoricon doesn't allow that. You don't get the upgraded badge for your age until the day of. The policy is stated on the registration (http://www.kumoricon.org/registration) page:

Quote
Your age on September 2, 2011 determines what type of registration you need to purchase. If you turn 13 or 18 during the convention, you can swap out your badge for the upgraded age type during the convention, starting on the day of your birthday, without any additional cost, but if you intend to do this, please contact us in advance to make arrangements at registration@kumoricon.org.

I don't know what Sakura-Con's policy for badge upgrades for birthdays during the convention is, but I think it's very unlikely they would allow you to get the adult badge early, even by a day. There are legal reasons for the age policies, and "turns 18 tomorrow" is no different from "under 18".

For all 3 days I'm going as Henry Townsend.

Oh and folks if any of you want I could put a link to my blog post on how to stay safe at a convention if anyone wants to look. Also I have other pieces of advice.

1. Either have your parents do this or do it yourself but go to the three major credit unions and GET YOUR BANK ACCOUNT OR ACCOUNTS FLAGGED!!!

I.D. thieves if they get a hold of your credit card information will immeadiately seek to make copies of it to access your account. Flagging your accounts is a way tio protect yopurself from that so you can enjoy Sakuracon with no worries.

2, Sign up yourself or get your parents to sign you up for an I.D. theft protection company such as say...Lifelock. In general it's a good idea to have this because I.D. theft protection companies will REALLY help insuire that you're not lible for anything I.D. thieves might charge if they get your information. And you inadvertantly might just help the police catch some I.D. thieves while at it.

TRUST ME I.D, THEFT PROTECTION COMPANIES ARE GOOD!!!!!

What does any of this have to do with attending a convention?

What does "flagging" an account mean?

One can't be liable for actions that one doesn't take. Regarding credit or debit card contracts that one has entered, US law limits personal liability for fraudulent use of credit cards to $50, and many (most?) banks limit both credit card and debit card liability further than the law requires, to 0. I would suggest it's a better idea to first check and know the policies of one's bank, before subscribing to an external service that may provide only indirect help.
Title: Re: Sakura Con 2011 (Apr 22-24)
Post by: Gryffinclaw Princess on January 24, 2011, 12:41:01 pm
Flagging an account means that the bank will watch it for suspicious activity. Which, in my opinion, is stupid to do. We are going to a convention where we are probably going to spend a good deal of money on food and random items we confuse ourselves into thinking we need. Most people spend a lot of money at con and if someone went and flagged their account without knowing what it would do, they probably would get shut off and then have NO way to pay for anything the rest of con.
Some people save all year to splurge at cons and flagging will do nothing but inhibit that process.
Plus, smart people who steal won't go and make large purchases at once but do a lot of smaller ones over a period of time that add up. So it would look just like a normal con spending anyways. (Only stupid thieves go splurge and get the attention of the bank.)

So really all flagging does is inhibit you if you see an expensive item you want. (Or if an emergency comes up and something bad happens. :/)
If you plan to spend a lot, a better idea is to call your bank and tell them, "Hey...I'm going to be spending a lot of money in a short period of time. Don't flag my account and don't worry about it because it's actually me." If you are worried about over the phone stuff, go to your bank and talk to them about it.

EDIT: Better yet, use cash. Girls can stick it in their bras if they are worried about losing it. Guys...ask your female friends to stick it in their bras. XP

Okay flagging is a good idea because as an example some people have stuck little devices into say gas pumps and credit card machines at hotels in order to swipe people's credit card information. I saw a news report about this on the news.

You could never predict that. It has nothing to do with any preparation for an anime convention, and could happen to anyone at anytime, short of just not having or ever using the card. That means everyone should just "flag" their account at all times? That would be meaningless. Furthermore, if your card is being swiped at a gas pump, that means you are trying to use it, so what are you trying to tell your bank? Be alert for usage on the card?

Better, subscribe to your bank's email or text message alerts for credit or debit card usage, so you're immediately notified of any activity. That's also fun in little ways, like you can see if fast food places write in fake tips or otherwise overcharge you slightly (this has happened to me three times, all at different places, because they know most people don't subscribe to alerts or will notice a discrepancy of a couple of dollars on their statement a month later). But most importantly, you can notify your bank of fraudulent activity in minutes, instead of days (or longer if they don't contact you because they got suspicious). And no need to "flag" any accounts or subscribe to suspicious "theft prevention" services.

Okay first let me apologize if I've ruffled any staff feathers especially you Jeff T. I''m just trying to help.

But I've got some more Sajuracon advice.

Sakuracon granted is still konths away but it's never too late to do this:

MAKE A LIST!!!

Step 1: That is make a check list of anything and every thing that you want and need to take along (Shoes, shirts, soap, shampoo, cosplay materials, etc.). I personally recommend using a word processing program to write out what you need to have but if you want to write it out by hand and you think your handwriting's legiible enough then that's cool.

Step 2: Put the list somewhere where you can see it everyday (Bedroom door, desk, etc.) and try to check off at least one thing a day. That way when Sakuracon does roll around you can be ready to go and well do whatever your heart and whimsy move you to do.

I'm working on the paperwork for our club's trip to the con (despite a few What If's we're still working on).  What's dumb about this is that I'm not even supposed to be doing this; the students are.  I'm only doing it because the two officers that know how to do it are busy focusing on graduating-related classes, so I'm doing it for them.  (We also need the school to approve of a financial assistance request, which could be alright).

Gah, I'm excited.

Just thought I would mention that Pre-Registration closes March 20th and after that you will have to register on site @ full price. Also at this time 4 of the hotels are sold out/full so for those planning on booking their hotel room at the Sakuracon price they need to do that soon before they're all sold out.

Human form. He's got the bandanna, and his glasses look just like Genma's, so we just need to find him a strip of fabric to use as a black belt, a martial arts uniform, and some flip flops. It was his idea, too, which really just makes it more awesome.

Tell him that a former Ranma cosplayer gives his stamp of approval!  (And maybe mention that I might be Ranma again at Kumoricon this year).

Well, he was considering getting a one-day pass and checking out Kumoricon this year, if that's any incentive. I'm sure he'd be up for bringing Genma back if he did end up going. And I'll pass the message along.

Just thought I would mention that Pre-Registration closes March 20th and after that you will have to register on site @ full price. Also at this time 4 of the hotels are sold out/full so for those planning on booking their hotel room at the Sakuracon price they need to do that soon before they're all sold out.

Cheers!

-Comes in shaking nervously- Gulp! Well now I've gone and done it! I've submitted a form to do a panel at Sakuracon. It'll be called Otaku 25 and older. I will admit to being a nervous wreck about it. But well the fact that i tried should in and of itself be taken as a sign of courage for this shy autistic adult.

I've been pre-regged since November. I'm not sure about the panels but I know the people in Seattle, know the area better than anyone I know and the con is going to be large enough that I might break my photo-record from the last AX. I'm really hoping this pulls through.

Well, I for one appreciate it.  I'm not quite 30, so I'd feel a little weird going to the one at KCon.  If I am able to go, I'll make this panel a priority.

Thanks Washougal_Otaku I appreciate that. Still, it might not happen it needs to get the okay from the Sakuracon staff and I believe it's a good idea to not count my chickens untill they're hatched. Still if it does go through any 25 or older Kumoricon goers who are planning on attending Sakuracon would be appreciated.  :)

The paperwork has been submitted.  I plan on talking to the girl who represents the Finance Committee in about an hour (she needs to get out of a meeting, first).  If I can help it, I don't want there to be ANY errors or setbacks, and nipping them in the bud ASAP is always a good thing.

I'm also planning on getting myself measured for my Lina costume either today or tomorrow, then ordering the costume on eBay.  I'm also looking at e-mailing the makers directly to see if they'll be okay with a credit card payment rather than PayPal, because I hate those jerks.

Anyways, onto the subject!  Sakuracon!  YAY!!!

Sakura con is now iffy for me. :/
We have run into some issues with money with bills landing on the same day and only one of us working (Only one car and he doesn't understand that I can't get a job if I can't get there every day. D<).

If we do go we can't buy anything or really do anything except eat. :/ I have no cosplays finished for it so I probably won't even be able to cosplay. [/sigh] I am really upset now cause it was going to be my first and my first Kumo sucked balls so I was hoping Saku would be different.

lol I don't I need time.

BTW to anyone who uses the 520 bridge:

So anyone who'll be using the 520 bridge, there are tolls that might be in effect for SakuraCon.

520 Tolling FAQ - including toll rates
http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Tolling/520FAQ.htm
According to that, any day of the week between 11pm and 5am is 0$- aka free!

Another option is to skip the 520 Bridge, and take the I-90 midspan over Mercer Island. Other options include going through town on the north and south sides between Bellevue and Seattle.

*If you're just staying on I-5 the entire time you won't have to worry about the 520 Bridge at all.

my post has a tiny bit more info in the sakura forums: http://scmb.sakuracon.org/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=21157

I actually would prefer to wait so I can build up my account. The travel expenses won't be that bad since my gainfully unemployed  (retired) parents will give me a ride up. The biggest expenses will be the hotel, followed by food, and souveniers.
Title: Re: Sakura Con 2011 (Apr 22-24)
Post by: DaemonForce on February 28, 2011, 06:20:54 pm
Oh I hear that. Add Seattle's room tagging practices to this mess and the total bill gets ridiculous. Souvenirs run me about ~$300(I love art, shut up). Roundtrip travel isn't so bad for me($40) but the hotel is murder. The rooms are almost full now and I know someone that is willing to foot a $800 bill for a 4 day stay. That is bull. Not even AX gets this damn expensive and it shouldn't be when people are scared stupid because of weak money. I'm trying to talk him into rooming with others to keep himself from slitting his own throat. No luck. :/
Title: Re: Sakura Con 2011 (Apr 22-24)

800$ for 4 nights isn't bad though. It IS Seattle and you ARE by the convention center, considered the heart of downtown in some respects.. Split that between four people and you're home free!

But I'm lucky that I get to stay at a place for free. No my expenses are always: gas, parking, food & spoils.
Because of my luck, I can go to a con with a mere 100-200$, depending on how much I want to fork over for food.

Best Western for 3 nights is only $300(+/-), which was roughly the same as last year. The walk to the con wasn't so bad when we attended. We really don't mind walking a few minutes if it would save us several hundred dollars. ;)

Oh boy, is it that time already? I better get started soon!

I'm in a room with five people and it looks like it is going to be 100 total each. We are staying at the Sheraton :D However, I am getting a ride up with someone so I said I would pay my share of gas and parking so that is going to be about another 100. Still, 200 for room and parking isn't horrible. I got 400 for tax returns so I am good.

For those of you looking for a little bit cheaper (I think?) hotel option, I highly recommend checking out the Seattle La Quinta. That's where my group and I stayed last year and I thought it was a great hotel. It's 7 blocks from the con center, but it's a straight shot and not bad at all. (Didn't even think it was that far away!)

They won me over with free coffee in the lobby. Glorious, heaven-sent free coffee.

I second this! They have complimentarty breakfast too!! It was yummy, and it isn't very expensive. The only problem was walking. There were some scary hobos (they looked like dealers) that we had to walk past a few times and they tryed to talk to us, but when we ignored them, they shut up.

This year I'm staying at the Red Lion which is a block away. Its about $400 for 2 nights, with 4 people in the room. That might be with the added parking costs, but I don't remember.

This is the huge problem for me in Seattle. I can find everything, I can make friends with random people really fast but I can't stand the homeless. Poverty is a decision that costs you. Period.

If the people I know there think that's bad, they should see all the fake homeless from here to Seatac. When I'm pestered by one of these bums I can feel a large part of myself die. If you were to slit my throat you'd get shot in the eye with boiling blood.

5th ave? That place is great but wow it's gone up recently. It was $150/night when I was last there. Be nice to the staff and don't talk to the first guy in the hall. You know after the first time you open your mouth that he hates amateurs that ask directions. At least the neighborhood won't give you any problems. All the food joints are on the middle floor and there's coffee across the street. It's paradise. <3

I think the best part about Sakuracon for me is showing up in an unfamiliar city 200 miles from home with nothing but $20-$30 and a backpack with a couple changes of clothes, and somehow managing to thoroughly enjoy myself and not wind up sleeping on the streets every time.

Well, now we're waiting for the Finance Committee to approve the budget request; they met today and CHOSE not to vote on it until the next meeting, despite my pointing out to them that the pre-reg cutoff is the 20th.  The reason is because they "wanted more information" even though I was there to answer questions, as was one of the students in the club.

Why are some people stupid and why do they end up in charge of money?

Why are some people stupid and why do they end up in charge of money?
In your case I would say what's going on is either a lack or conflict of interest. Possibly lack of respect as well. People appear intellectually stupid when they dismiss a sound idea as invalid, unproductive, wrong or simply cannot process it in a way that others can. Speaking of someone or directly telling someone they're stupid isn't kind or polite but I don't believe it's acceptable to call people on such(or at least without proper definition on what's going on), so I try my damndest not to. It's hard. It's so very f'ing hard. :-\

Anyway, here are my 3 main rules of this world that most people agree on:
1. All people are stupid.
2(elaboration on 1). People will do anything.
3(elaboration on 2). People are about the same everywhere.

I'm still working on my thesis on this subject and it doesn't look too great for those that can't process it so I refuse to post a small summary. Instead I'll try to break it down in nice small little words for everyone:

We acknowledge that there are smart people. They're still stupid but they have very little of it that plagues them. Therefore, someone has to be at the very bottom of the bell curve. They can look pretty, have a great voice, be kinder than your ex but it doesn't skip the fact that they lack understanding, sense and just plain suck at every kind of clever. This bottom is a minority but they still manage to populate the world enough to where I somehow manage to meet a number of them daily. These are people that just don't get it, completely oblivious to the world around them. They are just that f'ing stupid. These people are why there are laws in place to prevent such endangered creatures from killing themselves. They must exist as a valid warning to everyone else around them.

Middle class of stupid is a bit more interesting to me. It might be you, probably a few or even all your friends. It could be your Finance Comittee too. It's not so much an infection of bliss because these people manage to figure out when something is wrong and they don't usually hit oblivion as quickly. Some rebel against everything they see and hear, others try to conform like awesome little lemmings and sometimes do incredibly stupid things to validate their borderline meaningless existence in a badly designed social structure. Speaking of which, your FC likely fits some sort of acceptable social standard and that's why they're given control of money. You might think this says something bad about you but it's probably not as bad as you think. Think of it this way: Be glad you're not the one screwing it up for everyone. :/

The last class is too rare. They're the ones that own you and everything you do. They maximize and push their strengths to the limit and dismiss all the useless boring crap that weighs everyone else down. They understand the limits of themselves and others enough to know how to use them. They also attract quite a following. Some are religious figure heads, cult leaders, influential people...They have it. They have zazz. They are usually self-important and carry an atmosphere of dominance.

That's about it. I notice that some really stupid people are the ones that are quick to judge based on behavior. This can be dangerous. I find it easier to keep an eye on those that I suspect are a bit too stupid and keep my mouth shut about their behavior unless they really are in some kind of danger. I know this information probably won't help your efforts with your comittee meetings but at least you'll have a better understanding that their problems aren't your fault. Like I said, some people are given the tools and information but can't process them. From what you described, your comittee wants information but isn't willing to give any of their time to go over any of it. It doesn't seem related to intelligence but for what it's worth, I'm sorry.  :-\

See what I mean? It's difficult for a normal brain to process because it catches on fire and explodes so fast.

I assume the comittee is populated by the common majority of middle-classed stupid. If you read slowly enough you'll realize that these are people that constantly try to compensate for their own behavior with massive conformity or flat out reject everything. They do this because they realize when something is wrong. They follow what others think is cool, create a massive gaping hole between what's right and wrong(often with no opinion on grey area so they maintain a strong political agenda) and probably participate in some sort of hate group to feel better about their own worthlessness. The majority of people can't get enough of this crappy behavior and they put these idiots in charge. That is why they are given control of money. Not because they are good accountants or have a great work history or no criminal record...Because they compensate.

Oh my gosh I have so much to do! And so little time/money ;~; Or worse, I have the money but I can't use it until I make a paypal, I can't make a paypal until I open a checking account, I can't open a checking account until I have a debit card, I can't get a debit card until I have my permit.
Which is happening tomorrow morning, so with any luck I can take care of all of this by next week.

I am slowly hacking away at my progress. After tomorrow I will be able to get a lot more little things scratched off my list and able to move on to the bigger more time consuming things.

Also something that came up that will hinder me a little is apartment searching and gathering things I will need once I move :D

I like having a bro that works for a Hilton, we are getting a room there for like, 30 bucks a night with tax.

I still can't make any cosplay progress until spring break comes up, but I ordered some costume stuff off the internet though. That's about it.

Sakura Con?
I have everything but the costume I've put into planning from last year finished. I'm this close to just getting draft materials and starting the patterns. I've been looking forward to my first Sakuracon for years now and I'm not letting this get in the way. If I don't finish this, it will simply be at AX or Yaoicon. I'm not going to half-ass it. Period.

I tried convincing some of my friends to go with me but all they ever do is freak out about money like a scared puppy. I'm not about to drag that along when this is a chance for me to NOT think about it. Every bad experience started with people that would only worry about money all the damn time. I'm not going to let that drama find me again and I'm looking forward to raiding the artist alley at first chance. ;D
I have the money but I can't use it until I make a paypal, I can't make a paypal until I open a checking account, I can't open a checking account until I have a debit card, I can't get a debit card until I have my permit.
I used Paypal for preregistration but why would you need a checking account? I signed up years ago without one and it works fine. Can't you just go into a local bank, preload a gift card and associate the number in Paypal? Yes you can. It's faster and you wouldn't be rushed to sign up with some crappy bank that will make you a fee slave. Is there a fee involved? Likely. Does it screw you like a bank account? No. One guy didn't understand this and he's always flat broke because of it. Before him there's a girl I once looked up to that's constantly in debt because of bank fees. She can't even close her account(s) without her mom stepping in to foot half a paycheck.

Also, I don't know what this has to do with you needing a permit but you should be able to get your license. A basic Class C is nothing major. A CDL is a different matter. Read the book, then read it again. :/
I am slowly hacking away at my progress.
*bounces* I want a progress thread. <3

In your case I would say what's going on is either a lack or conflict of interest.

I think it's more of the lack of interest; but what would make sense to me is most of them probably have no idea what a convention IS (or at least what they're like).  A few years ago, we were denied funding for a trip to Anime Expo, simply because there's a convention in Portland.  This issue wasn't pointed out, so I think they just have no idea what's going on, all the more reason why I think they should have asked more questions than just "What will you be doing at this convention?"  Also, out of the 6 or 7 requests from other organizations that were mentioned, ours was the smallest quantity of money and the one that had the first time-crunching deadline.

Anyway, here are my 3 main rules of this world that most people agree on:
1. All people are stupid.

To an extent, I will agree with this.

This makes sense now. It may have been an issue of omgwtfiduncare and funding(READ: greed) on their end so they tried to point you in a more local direction just so they had some say in the matter and not completely submit to your idea.

I have no idea what goes on in PDX during the summer though. It's kind of shocking they would try to redirect your attention at the last minute like that. I can picture this going something like the creeper twins from Saboten-con. Come play with us Daemon! Forever, and ever...and ever. x_X'

I guess I still have some other work to do for Sakuracon besides costuming. Some people are harder to get ahold of than I am. Especially the important ones. That's a technical impossibility too.
ALl i can say is life is good.
Planning is going well for me but there's little execution involved. I just wish I could do something about the end of April so that I don't end up in any trouble with the legislative panels. It's like above, give stupid people the power and you end up in a swiss cheese house of the damned. The last thing I need during Sakuracon is to be called for something that I can't attend here. I'm not taking a train back to Lewis during a day of photoshoots just for 2 hours of case briefing that isn't going to apply to me or the other 5. x_X

I thought it was in the Fall and in Vancouver WA. Looking at the equinox I can see you're right about the Summer but is this the only fun thing in the Portland area at that time? Wow.

I still don't get this. Has the policy changed so much in recent years that you're legally incapable of registering? This doesn't make sense. :/

In other news, I just found out I won't be at Sakuracon. The first time in 3 years I actually have a chance to go to this and once again Lewis finds a way to screw me hard. I doubt this ruling can be changed when I'm #1 on call. Great. I didn't think it was possible to hate this place any harder.

Well in the past few years Kumoricon has been in Portland, and a lot of places consider early September to be part of summer.
Also if you're under 18 you can either lie about your age or use an adult, but I figured it would just be easiest to wait two months and not have to hassle with lying.

Another issue with Paypal I encountered before I got mine was I needed to have my debit card on it or it wouldn't work. It'd have to be my debit card or a credit card (not happening), or I'd have to link it to my bank account directly (also not happening). My safest route I choose was hooking the paypal to my debit card. It was really easy to modify the mailing address too when I move, and it was CAKE and I mean CAKE to change the card on there when my first one went poof and I had to deactivate it and put on the new one. That makes me really like paypal for the ease of that.

Pfft pretty much every year since 07 it's been kinda cold at Kumori, so I just think of it as fall. We got a lil sun in 08 I think, and last year, but in 07 it was waaaaaaaaarm one of the days. ^^

Well, we should be finding out once and for all today if we're going or not.  The woman told me that she'd let us know on Friday, but I've been told that she wasn't around on Friday.  She's scheduled in today, though, so we should know by the end of the day.

Update: We've been denied.  The reason stated as being: it's not "educational."  Okay, learning about Japanese culture, the anime industry, and meeting people from around the WORLD aren't educational?  Well, this will give us more money to work with to possibly go to another con next year, or go to Sakuracon without school aid.

"I am going to be out of town for Easter."  there is no lie there that way. you will be out of down, and it is during easter. For an event that is on easter. So... Not really a lie. It is what I will be putting for my son's reason for missing school in September if he ends up going to NDK (A con in Colorado, the weekend after Kumoricon I think, or weekend before it.) with me. >< I am a bad mother. >< Or a cool one for taking him to a con.... ><;
I'm not sure you can get away with "Out of town for Easter" in September. :P

Well.. the "Out of town for "something"" Is what I will be putting I meant. ^^;; hm.. What is in September the weekend of NDK?.... *will need to look that up.*

Chibachi Nero - No stress, cons should be fun. Relax. Be excited. but no stress. Stress spoils the fun, trust me. Every con I stressed about was nee... could have been better. When I just have fun and relax and be excited and myself and enjoy it. Then I have fun. Stress is pure evil I tell yeah, I banish thee, go eat bread with the Beelzebub. ... and for some reason that last like reminds me of Zed.... Bad wild arms!

Hahaha I'm taking a driver's ed class and one of the day's of scheduled to drive is the Saturday of Sakuracon, so my mom is letting me use the "we're out of town for Easter" excuse to get out of it.

Also... I need to get everything done this weekend and next weekend because the weekend before Sakuracon I'm in Anaheim for a student journalist convention (also Disneyland).

Okay folks here are some handy tips for Maxmizing your fun at Sakuracon.

1. (Roddy Manic actually pointed this out.) No expectations other than to have fun: Cons are a chacne to relax and chill will friends.  Don't go in i with high hopes fior anything just go in with the expectation of enjoying yourself and having fun and you'll be happier.
2. DON'T FORGET TO EAT: Nothing ruibns a con for a person faster than a growling stomach which is why it's a good idea to set a specific time for melas. That way your tummy will be happy and you'll be happy.
3. No need to rush: It's actually a fact that a lot can be accomplished in 24 hours so there's no need to rush things. Take a good long look at the con schedule and see what events you want to go to and set aside specific times therein when the event or panel is taking place. There's no need to do everything in one day take things at a nice relaxed pace that way you won't end up feeling like a worried and cornered animal. Just relax and keep the chill on.

If anyonne lese wants to add anything go ahead.

Some additonal tips:
1.Con schedule when finalized will be posted on the website. Download this and highlight the stuff you really want to see.
I print this and use a highligher on mine.

2. If you have an event you really want to see, then always check with Info Booth to make sure it hasn't been changed from the printed schedule.

3. Photo Shoots, also check with info booth for the latest times/locations

4. Make sure to get a bag when you pick up your badge. It has the con book with events & guests plus the printed schedule. Alot of people forget to get this and then later discover a guest they like was there or event was going on.

5. Highlight the dealer room hours and other places you really want to go.

6. Note the Seattle & Convention center kerfew times if you're under 18, and yes they keep track of it and will check.

7. Policies. Always good to read/be informed that way there are no surprises.
Link: http://www.sakuracon.org/aboutus/policies.php (http://www.sakuracon.org/aboutus/policies.php)

8. ASK Staff. That's what we're there for. Reception Desks and Info Booths (there are two ~ Main one on level 4 and one in the registration hall)

And Yes, just have fun.
Cheers,
Kato ~ PR Pixie

There are less than 23 days before the convention. If you still don't know if you can go, just don't go. If something so important is holding you back from attending a really large and fun convention through Easter weekend, you don't need to be worrying about whatever it is every moment you're at the con. That's how all the stupid stuff in life viciously nails you to the wall. I take care of my plans and stick to them. In late November I made the decision that I'm going to attend Sakuracon this year and I will. Time, money, taxes, politics, prosecution orders, jurors and all blatantly stupid havoc be damned! I'm going whether people want me to or not. (・ω・´)

My costumes are finished but I'm leaving my Cantarella Kaito for AX and Yaoicon. I'm just dealing with too much right now to be hiding a beautiful sewing project from my family. They don't understand this hobby at all and I catch enough hell from them for all the stupid stuff that doesn't involve me. How I stay sane from it all is still a mystery.
Still don't know what's wrong with the car and if it will be able to get us up there.
What's it doing? I considered driving up to Seattle but then I realized that completely sucks and I have no business driving an American car in a place infamous for its constant daytime traffic jams. o.O

IMO... it's not much worse than Portland, if at all. You can get royally hosed if you get caught out when it's snowing, but otherwise I've run into the same frequency of "Good Lord, why did you rubbernecking idiots have to block traffic for miles just to watch someone getting a ticket?" jams and "For Pete's sake, don't just keep widening the same road, create a viable alternative" jams in Portland. They may even be more common.

For all that the I-90 and I-520 bridges in Seattle are a travesty and 405 is badly overburdened, at least they're a straightforward route. In Portland, I can't count the number of times I've gotten choked up in some utterly nonsensical routing or rerouting that the city engineers came up with. I have to admit Ballard is comparable, but most of the rest of Seattle is either well-designed or well-marked.

They don't do a great job at it, but I get the feeling the Seattle city engineers are at least trying to fix problems despite their political and geographical limitations. In Portland, I get the feeling that either they're trying to fix traffic congestion by annoying people into never driving (not necessarily a bad idea), or some of their best meetings are inspired by a really good B.C. supplier of "refreshments".  ;)

Bringing it back to the point, the biggest traffic problem you'll probably run into if you drive for Sakuracon isn't traffic jams - it's finding parking, same as downtown Portland. Wrt that problem, I'd heartily recommend the Park-and-Rides.

Not sure if this helps but the train system should get you almost all the way to the convention center so there would be no traffic or parking problems.

Oh well then I would suggest the park and ride/transit. Easiest and cheapest way to go, especially if you can get someone to drop you off.
I use the eastgate park and ride myself but there's lots of others.

Not my problem in an AMC.

I know it doesn't make sense and I really really really hate to say this but that's just the way it is.
political and geographical limitations
You win a cookie. That's pretty much the entire problem not just for Seattle but the entire State of Washington. I'd introduce you to some of the people responsible for our messes but then I'd have to kick you out of the vicinity because you'd want to wring their necks after the first 60 seconds. It takes some seriously massive control that I don't even have half the time. Avoid harder than a determined Jay Leno out to steal an overly obnoxious looking chinpiece.
Not sure if this helps but the train system should get you almost all the way to the convention center
Oh God...Ahahaha! After months this has become the most horrible option(though it's still available). Redmond is still the same stupid crap and I'm soooooo happy that someone on this forum finally makes me glad to be in the horrible place that I'm at. I'd rather die than live in Redmond. x_X'

We're talking about the one near Bend, right? That area doesn't even have a manned station! It's just an overpriced counterintuitive bus ride out to Chemult and THEN you're on a massively expensive itinerary that is probably impossible to keep thanks to all the service delays involved between coordinated stops and the rail changes. It's incredibly frustrating and probably really stupid to do this without a post-millenium vehicle but driving really would be the best option. At least if you can get your rig out to the PDX station or something closer. You can roundtrip on less than $200 that way even if you somehow get ticketed. What a way to go. :/

Only if you're willing and able to run over people's cars and trucks. Most of the problem isn't the icy roads. It's the ... *cough* less-than-thoughtful drivers who decide after an hour or two that they've had enough of waiting and abandon their vehicles in the middle of the road. Sometimes even in the middle of the interstate. Yes, really.

I understand that people may need to get somewhere else badly enough that they "don't have a choice" for one reason or another. But if that's the case, don't knowingly put yourself at risk of getting in a situation where you'll do this to other people. Geez. (This isn't nearly as bad as people who "don't have a choice" other than driving drunk, but it's the same principle: Failure to plan ahead so that it won't come to that, except in emergencies, is virtually the same as actively choosing it.)

Not sure if this helps but the train system should get you almost all the way to the convention center

I'd almost go homeless rather than move to Alabama - but I wouldn't want to say it in the above manner to my friends who live there. Honesty and directness have a lot of inherent value... but sometimes, so do forbearance and empathy.

In fact, without those traits, honesty and directness are about as useful as (and come across like) sandpaper underwear.

Boosts bravery. Don't hug anyone!♥

Anyway this all gives her initiative to get her car working. She's a girl so she automatically knows how to describe symptoms of intermittent and irreversible failure way better than I can. If it's really that bad, it's going to get fixed. Just watch. O_o

Its not my car. (I dont own a car) I dont know what is wrong with it. And it hasnt been fixed because no place so far will diagnose it because of the year. Thus, we dont even have an idea of what the problem may be. ): This would be my first Saku but if we cant fix it we probably cant go. Still trying my best though.
Title: Re: Sakura Con 2011 (Apr 22-24)
Post by: DaemonForce on March 31, 2011, 03:45:04 am
Wow now it doesn't sound so bad. You're not responsible for what's going on with the car so you don't have to worry so much. Just support the guy that needs to get it fixed to a reliable condition and you'll be perfectly fine. I just went out a few hours ago and now my driver side door handle is busted in half again. This is the price I pay every year to have fancy chrome handles. I'll hunt another half-size AMC handle in a few hours and spend 10 minutes out in the cold dark and rain replacing it because I care about my things like that. I should probably change my oil soon too. It's been nearly 15 months now. >.>'

You have options but you waited too long and they're too expensive at this point. You have a ≥$200 train option that takes a significant amount of time and a completely unreliable ≥$264 flight option with Delta at Redmond Municipal. I know a friend of mine used to joke about this when we were standing around like idiots at the SW terminal every day around 4AM but I finally see the truth in his words: Doesn't Ever Leave The Airport. You're welcome to try coordinating the train->PDX->plane-SEA thing like I would do but honestly? Don't ever try it until you know exactly what you're doing and more than enough planning time. Maybe if you go to Sakuracon next year you'll be ready for that but for now I would seriously just stick with the car. It's your only hope. :)

^^ Screw that, PM me if you guys want to go and just need a ride... Redmond's only twenty or thirty minutes from me (I'm in Renton, near the Landing). I'll be staff, so I'm not sure exactly when I'll be going and staying, but I'd be honored to break away and pick you guys up at some point between shifts if you need.

My sympathies about having trouble finding someone to try to fix it 'cause of the year... way back when, I had the same issue with my first car. Finally had to buy a Chilton's manual (http://chilton.cengage.com/) and teach myself how to fix it, 'til it finally gave up the ghost after a few more years.

Our programming staff was looking into it but since it can't be held inside the convention space (no alcohol or food other than that provided by Aramark Inc) other venues were being considered.
To my knowledge it won't be part of the programming this year.

I agree and also wish we could have it. I first attended it at Kumori and loved the panel & tasting. Very informative and just plain fun. I've been promoting the idea and seeing what we can do and so far the responce is as long as we don't do it in the convention center it could happen.
Most realistic option would be to have it in one of the nearby hotels as they are not controlled by the Aramark contract.
Boring legal stuff I know but that's the way convention centers work vs hotels.

Anyway, hope springs eternal and I haven't given up. Our programming director & manager also like the sake tasting event so I have hope it can be a reality someday.

Cheers!

I managed to get a few rare snacks this morning and I have a feeling that home is going to welcome me way better than it usually does. I'm not going to give it a choice. :)

Seven days (http://mccainsevendays.ytmnd.com/). Hahahaha! ;)

CRUNCH TIME!!!!!!

Going to have access to a sewing machine today so I can actually get most of my Lady Gideon jacket finished, and make some adjustments to my skirt. Then I'll just have to finish the cane/sword tomorrow, then on Saturday add the Chaos Theater detail on the jackets lapel and buy the red undershirt and glasses.... then BOOM Lady Gideon will be ready!

I also need to do the finishing touches to my Jacqueline skirt tonight, make the top and crown on Saturday, and pull together my Cheerleader cosplay really quick on Saturday and I'll be done! =]

Yeah but this is the third year in a row I have planned to go and then ended up not being able to. I think SakuraCon has something against me so I might not even try next year.

Oh GOD, I can't even begin to believe how close it's creeping up on us. I feel like time is running ahead and leaving us in the dust. OAO;;

Well, for a change this year, I'm actually going to try out the Masquerade and get a fancy outfit and matching mask together (most likely a Victorian version of England). Looking forward to that as my very last cosplay project~ ^^

And while we're at it lets support some of the merchants in the Dealers hall by giving them some busine.s Oh and if Kumoricon has a booth there this year be warned I'll find you and I'll good-naturedly harass you. Muwhahahahahahahahahahahaha! Cough, cough, ahem!

OH GOD STUFF TO DO. I think I'll be able to get everything done though, and worse case scenario I have to do some sewing on the train. I've gotta pack, but that won't take long. I only need to buy wig stuff, and my dad promised me he'd get his gi for Genma today (he's been procrastinating XD). I think I'm gonna whip out my sewing machine for boot covers, to save time. (I did the rest of the costume by hand because my sewing machine is craaaap and it can't sew a straight line AT ALL.)

Okay! [cracks knuckles] Lets do this!

OH GOD STUFF TO DO.
I would expect Epic Cosplay to show up in the dealer hall(yay wigs!). I haven't checked the setup. Anyway, get stuff done and go back to being arty. We need more drawings! :3

My new costume has a bit of indistinguishable variation from the first model. I don't intend to wear a wig with it so I might be okay. Anyway I should probably go do something else. Everything was sunny ten minutes ago. A few lightning bolts grabbed my attention and the thunder/hail combo is upsetting everyone. I can't hear myself think. I just hope I don't have to deal with this crappy weather during Sakuracon. Should I bring an umbrella? :/

And so we come to the nitty gritty days. There are 2 days left until Sakuracon 2011. Start packing or finish up your cosplay Ladies and gents because it's a bit of a trip up to Seattle. Again i can't emphasize enough let's go up there to have fun, maybe make a few new friends, meet a few voice actors or manga authors, and whatever you do...DON'T FORGET TO EAT!!! Food is our friend.

2 days leeft untill Sakuracon everyone...AND THE COUNTDOWN TO SAKURACON CONTINUES!!!!

It's only a two hour trip for me. If you're flying in...Go grab a small snack from the sterile area before heading down to baggage claim. SeaTac tends to shut down a little when downtown Seattle is preparing for huge events like this one. I hope the people from Alaska don't choke when they arrive. One of my friends will be flying in through night 0 and he's going to be a bit screwed up from that.
whatever you do...DON'T FORGET TO EAT!!! Food is our friend.
That's why I'm an F-18 bro. I'm an unstoppable dominating force that will deliver my ordinance to the ground. Work is over. It's time for fun! Also, I know food is important but lack of sleep makes me extremely irritable. I'm sure a few others are the same. Make sure you get enough sleep. O_o

sdjnfkasjfklads f I'm rushing to try and get everything finished today! My boyfriend was suppose to leave me his car, but forgot :| So I can't finish a lot of things until after 5 today. Luckily I still have enough wood filler and sandpaper to work on my Romona hammer and it will probably be ready to paint so I can pass it on to my boyfriend when he gets home.

Besides that I still need to finish my Romona purse, get my tattoos and my boyfriends tie decals printed and attach them, and finish packing alkjdsklfjasdkljfkladsjf I HOPE I DON'T HAVE TO STAY UP ALL NIGHT.

I have a few loose ends to tie up here too. I'll be in Seattle later this afternoon but first I need to take care of my hair and shopping(why does this sound so girly? x_X). Also, my lotto ticket looks insane right now. This day is starting off to a ferociously strong start with a side of tiger blood and awesome. I look so androgynous right now, I should probably go get a haircut. Anyway this convention is going to rock. Weeee!

Zomg I hate FedEx once more. They lie about shipping charges, falsify updates and then they deliver to the wrong block. Well at least they tried. O_o

My group is going to be very happy. I have a very rare cider and very rare cake to give them. It's only right that I reward them for their hard work. <3

Hey everybody. I'm back from Seattle.  :)

I hope everybody had a good time there. I've got lots of pictures, As soon as I can get  Wordpress.com to cooperate with me I promise to get the pictures up as soon as I can. As to my panel. Well the short of it is...I think I'm going to need a bigger room next year. I underestimated how much ayttention my panel would get. the room was jam packed full of people and I didn't have time to talk about everything. Next year I'm going for more time and a bigger room. I also got a bunch of anime series FLCL, Claymore, and season 1 of K-ON.  I also discovered how useful Bartell's drugs is. So I'm sending a special shout out to them. I needed them because my camera died and i needed new batteries, and also, it was bound to happen sooner or later, I caught...the dreaded con cold.

I'm still trying to figure out what you possibly could have done wrong and then I imagine it to be someone else giving you trouble. What gives? :/
also, it was bound to happen sooner or later, I caught...the dreaded con cold.
I cured my entire crew before this could happen to any of us. This is why none of us are busy recovering. At this point all I have to do is breathe on you and you'll get better. >.>'

I actually had a cold before the con and took several Zicam and was fine. I also drank a lot of orange juice each morning and night when we were at the house. It really helped and cleared me up right away~ :D Had I not taken that, I'd probably would have had a fever on Saturday and been out of the con on Sunday ><

I'm still getting the pictures up, but I finished of day 1 :D

Was that "Dr. Plague" an original character? They look like they're trying to be the doctor from Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood.

I can confirm that "Dr Plague" is an original charcter because I asked the cosplayer about it.
