Day 0. What's it all about?
Hello hello~
So, I've heard a bit about 'day Zero' for Kumoricon, but much of it is still unknown to me.
I've never been to Kumoricon (Coming up from Arizona~) but I do know it's for us who have pre-reged.
I have been to Sakura-con before, so I'm slightly assuming it's kind of like there 'day zero'?
Wait in line forever for your badge, and chill out?
If so, how long is the normal wait, how long are normal lines, what time should I arrive to said line, and where will it be at?
I know some people will be cosplaying, so I'm debating if I should join. (All depending on the amount of line wait -- Undertakers boots are DEATH on the feet.)
Thank you for helping out a kumoricon noob ^^.

Oh, well, as far as I know, day zero is just to pre-reg, and get settled in to the hotel, and hang out~! :33
Lines are usually pretty long, but not too bad.
I like getting there around noon, so I can hang out and stuff, but I'm not sure exactly when pre-reg'ing starts. o 3 o
Sorry I can't help very much. x33

As far as 'day zero' goes for me...
It's the day before the convention officially starts.
A lot of people come to check in if they already pre-reged (to avoid the lines on day 1 and miss events) Also, alot of people who stay for all three days check into their hotel rooms that day, again to avoid spending all their first day at the con missing events by either unpacking or waiting in Kumoricon check in lines.
Since there's a bunch of con-goers there, after everyone is done checking in everyone kind of hangs out (some in cosplay already) in the lobby as the con atmosphere hits everyone. Some people hang outside in the park too, and most are chilling working on last minute cosplay lol. I usually sit in the lobby sewing something or other. :P
Waiting in line forever on day 0 is better than waiting in line forever while missing events on day 1. And actually last year it went by pretty fast (for me at least) I don't know when check in time is for Friday, I think it might be too early for staff to know yet?? >.> <.< But I don't come anyway until my hotel check in time, since I just get dropped off. That way I can unload and my ride can leave back to Salem.

Its not just pre-reg. You can still get all con badges on day zero. I know this from last year when i went on day zero so i could go straight to con on day one.
-
I'm pretty sure you can only pick up pre-reg badges. You can't buy a badge day zero but if you bought one in advance you can pick it up that day.
-
it's pretty chill :D
-
The policy on whether you can buy day badges in advance on Friday has changed year-to-year, I believe. I don't know what the policy will be this year, yet.

Day Zero last year = gaming open a few hours, hanging out with ppls, and any pre con group meet ups.

Awww, sad panda :(

I don't cosplay day zero because of the line mostly. Typically I just get checked in to con & hotel, get all my stuff setup in my room, then go out to dinner & drinks with friends :D

Me either. My cosplay is a hassle to get in anyway, I don't wanna deal with changing into it after packing to only be in it a few hours. And coming up in it is no good either, I wouldn't wanna be unpacking and lugging suitcases up in it either.
-
Not to mention...my cosplay is extremely warm so I don't like wearing it for long periods of time >.>
-
So its recommended that you get your badge on day zero?
-
Yes, join the fun as soon as possible!
-
alas work has me until 10pm on day zero so I will not be ariving until late
-
Anyone for a round of duck duck goose?
-
just don't try to play it in the line, or they will throw you out and tell you your cosplay is bad =C
-
I hear tell of a possible party happening on either day zero or day minus 1 at ground kontrol...
the details are still fuzzy for me... but you may here more through the grape vine...
I am so excited though because Ground Kontrol is AWESOME!

Awww man we sat in line playing with fake blood and singing musical showtunes! Even when it was misting at... jeez I can't remember what time it was but it was early or really late when I was in line but overall pretty cool! Bring your towel! Its good if you spill your drink, it starts to mist, or you just want something a little softer to sit on than the concrete! I am also bringing my card game Guillotine to play with random people this year! Also bringing a drink a snack never hurts but be aware you may get other people in line asking if you have more so you may want to bring a little extra! ;D

Just keep that stuff away from Dawn and we will all have a great convention!

The fake blood or the showtunes?

Did you guys have something to do with the hand prints last year? xD

If you are refering to handprints on actual hotel furniture or walls no. As far as I am aware that was a resident evil zombie. Me and mine were almost fastidious in the wearing and clean-up of our fake-blood. I do not condone the use of fake blood or other stage/special effects make-up to deface property! Now that that is out of the way I plan to have fun! ;D
