hello~!
This year at kumoricon my friend and I are thinking about applying to run a booth. We plan to sell bakery, though we're unsure of what exactly yet. I'm thinking cookies, cup cakes, and cakes! Probaby things like red velvet & cream cheese frosting cup cakes, lavender cup cakes, mint chocolate chip cookies, cakes with a mousse filling, you name it.
But my question for you all is, would this be something you'd be interested in buying? No point in applying to run a booth if no one is going to be interested xD I know there was a booth a few years back that sold cup cakes and they seemed to do pretty well.
If you think we should go for it, please give me some advice on how to make our booth stand out! (: assuming I am accepted for a booth, I'll fill you all in on the details later! Such as prices, deals, planned flavors, and discounts! <3 thanks for stopping by!

Oooh and i love cupcakes! :D I would definitely be interested in buying some ^^

Well chocolate is my favorite, but my second favorite would have to be red velvet ^^

selling food had always been a hard one to get in, I just remeber all the trouble neko pan had

CUPCAKES~! ^.^ Yes, I highly support this. <3
I know it's pricey but I love anything green tea-flavored. If that's not doable for you guys, then that's totally ok. I also like strawberry, (lavender sounds tasty too~), vanilla, yellow, lemon, almond, honey... Basically anything but I prefer lighter colored pastries rather than darker ones like chocolate. :3
-
I hope I get in! It'd be such a fun experience.
Oh, green tea you say. Tell y ou what, if I manage to get in I'll bake that one JUST for you! :D But you'll have to promise to stop by and actually pick it up lmao
-
Also, can anyone direct me to the place to apply for a booth? x.x; I'm assuming its not the same as panel haha
-
Oh wow, how kind of you!! And that's a promise! :'D
Oh and good luck on finding a booth! I hope you get one!

AND CUPCAKES, TOO!!!

XDDDDDDDDDDDD
That just made my day!!!
<3
Anywhos, I'm not much of a cupcake eater, but it sounds cool that you'll be doing it ^^
-
Also! I'd like to add (can't believe I forgot this...) that 50% of the profit is going to be donated to a non-profit animal shelter. I haven't decided which one yet, but yeah! Hopefully I'll find one soon! :)

I would imagine that you'd want to talk to the Director of Relations. Assuming you get approved, you'd need to have a food handler's permit; since the con is in Washington this year, I'd think that a Washington card would be requested.
To be honest, I'm not 100% sure on what I'm saying.
-
And the goodies need to be made in a licenced kitchen
-
^ That makes sense.
-
Dannnng. This sounds hard :/ So I can't make them at home the night before I'm assuming lol.
-
I absolutely adore sweets. I'm sure tons of people would buy cupcakes and cookies. (lemon and vanilla are the best!)

nope, sadly
It's because of allergens and germs could infect the food, even if you are super careful
-
Maybe you could make fake cupcakes? ^u^ I remember in 2009 there was someone in the dealers hall selling little decoration cupcakes and they seemed to be pretty popular, plus you could make them over the summer or something and they wouldn't go bad!

WHERE DID THEY GO? ;____;
Also, sell brownies > u >

Nyancat found them all and eated them. :3

I'm not sure how Washington works...but I know that in Oregon, what Superjaz said is true. You won't be able to make & sell them if they aren't made in a kitchen/bakery that has been inspected & approved to sell to the public.
-
If you KNEW people were going to come I'd just make them and give them away, and if people wanted to possibly give or 'donate' to your cause (of baking and helping animals?) then they are PERFECTLY welcome too.
While that may be a little obv. for post people, I could care less about a law that has no merit granted full disclosure of ingredients (aka no secret recipes).
-
Whether or not we wish we could, we can't give our blessing to people who try to find ways around the laws on food handling and sales.
Nor can we give our blessing to people who publicly bring in and share food, because I'm pretty sure the hotels will get upset at the people doing so if they see it.
