OK, I know that a lot of are excited about the final Pirates movie coming out this Memorial Day weekend. A lot of my friends are going to be out of town that weekend and they took all my other fun with them (I play a ton of RPGs every weekend) so I am basically making my whole weekend around this movie.
How about we kick it up a notch by making it a get together? I'm thinking Friday night or early Saturday so we can avoid as many conflicting jobs as possible I propose that we choose a showing at the Cedar Hills Crossing Century Theater (which is on fandango) and meet up there to watch the movie with friends. . It's close enough that Vallie and I can get there and stake out a spot in line so that we can all sit together!
Vallie and I are no strangers to sitting out front of theaters. I camped for three days for Episode Three and two days for Return of the King.
I know the theater is over in Beaverton and that's a "long way" for some of you but Vallie and I have no car and this is the closest theater to us. I'm willing to go elsewhere if we can come up with a cohesive plan and rides for everyone.
What do you say guys? Arrrrrrrr you in?
-
I will totally go as long as i have enough time enough to get there, it would have to be after 5:30 on saturday or after 8:15 on friday or ANYTIME on sunday or monday =D
I would love to see you all!
-
I would propose it not be Friday night, as I still have to work that day. Saturday evening, would be awesome. ^_^ I looked at the Fandango website and they already have the showtimes listed for Saturday. Showtimes are 11:30am, 12:10, 3:15, 4:00, 7:00, 7:50, 10:40, and 11:40.
Since Leashy has to worry bout drive time, we'll be looking at the 7 pm showing at the earliest on Saturday.
What say the rest of you?
-
Well, since Beaverton is forever and a half away for me...if anyone wants to go see it on the east side, let me know ^-^
-
If Beaverton is that far, what would 10 miles south of Eugene be, eh?
Second thought, maybe you shouldn't answer that in a family forum.
-
could go but it would take 2hrs and 3 mins one way by bus XD dont have car :\
-
I live 5 minutes from cedar hills crossing, but I work friday night, I could do the saturday early thing but sat. I am playing a softball game from 5:30 til 7 on saturday
-
i would go but im kinda out of cash and gas till next month :( i have been realling on my card playing skills to win me money for gas lol its hard but i get through lol. well i hope u all have fun :)
-
Ok so Tom and I have discussed the scheduling for it, and we're officially setting the time and date of meeting up for the movie Saturday evening for the 7pm showing. If you're interested in going, and are available, please show up by 6:30pm at the latest for seating. I will be in the line earlier than that in effort to get us a better chance at getting decent seats all together. You may want to buy tickets ahead of time via Fandango as it's very possible that the showing will sell out. The webpage to do this at is https://www.fandango.com/purchase/movietickets/ticketboxoffice.aspx?row_count=468749272&mid=101011&tid=AATBX
If you're going but cannot order tickets online, please pm me to make other arrangements.
The address of the theater is 3200 SW Hocken Avenue, Beaverton, OR 97005. Plug the address in at http://maps.google.com for a map or directions, if needed.

i dont know about the suburbs but portland theatres arent DOING midnight showings this year. it makes me very sad and want to cry. every epic movie that has come out since like...i dunno episode ii and fellowship i have been doin the midnight showing thing. its just fun and everyone is more exsited. but a bunch of the portland theatres decided that the movie comes out at 8pm on thursday the 24th (the day before the film actually comes out, the deal with showing it at midnight is that its technically the next day etc). apparently it has something to do with la and new york having showings at thiese times and portland wanted to be like them or something. i found this out when i called the inside line at the lloyd ten to ask about ticket and also another movie. i am sad and all my costumy things i had planned seem boring now, ill just have to save it till september 19th. or you know....dress like a pirate cause i feel like it.
i know that was a little bit of an offshoot of what was going on here but i just thought it might be good to know for some people.
-
me and kendo boyfriend thinking of going, tho the 5 showing would be nicer as it is cheaper showing , alas poor pocket book i knew thee well
-
I've not been seeing any midnight slots for this movie, surprisingly. I've seen 8pm which is odd. Anyway, Kahlan and I will be at the Tigard theater, 11:40pm showing on Thursday, if anyone plans on going, pm me or something, we can meet up. ^_^
-
According to the radio they are doing an 8pm showing to try to draw in a bigger crowd and also because they want to make more money than the opening for Spiderman 3. All of my friends on the east coast have also said that they have not seen a midnight showing which I think it kinda dumb because alot of people will want to go then

Unfortunately, the earliest Leashy can make it out to Beaverton on Saturday is 5:30pm, and the next closest showing is 7pm, and that's the main reason why we chose that showing.
-
I wish I had had more time this last month I could have made a full pirate outfit and hired some filthy bum off the street and passed him off as a Captian jack reenacter. All of the jack fangirls would have said he was so sexy ware as the day before they tossed empty cans at him on the street corner
-
oh we is coming just (thinking of all the summer movies comming 0.0)
but yeah do you know when we can get tickets?
-
Fandango.com is already selling them, Jaz.
https://www.fandango.com/purchase/movietickets/ticketboxoffice.aspx?row_count=477815586&mid=101011&tid=AATBX
Unfortunately, I don't know if the theater box office is selling them yet in person, and the only phone number I could find for the theater is an automated message that doesn't give any info about it.
-
I already got my ticket via fandango a few night ago, thanks Vallie!
-
my friends and I are going friday, senior ditch day... I would've gone if it was a midnight showing but now all the kiddies are gonna be there... *sobs* so friday afternoon will suffice, I guess T__T;;
bagh...
-
I know the local theatre here in Springfield has been pre-selling tickets since Spider-Man came out.
-
i just bought our tickets woot and we can bring you your manga on sat leashy i get 20 bucks back yay!
-
Sweet! Yeah I will bring $20 thank you!

Sweet, I'm going to go see it in about 2 hours. It's my boyfriend and I's six month anniversary, weee...

Whoo have fun and happy anniversary!!! My 2 year was the 6th of this month and now we are broken up o.x
-
(gomen leashy)
one more to come my younger brother Karl is gonna come too yay hes a good brother
-
My roomate and I actually got invited to go see it tonight with some friends that will be out of town for the weekend. I'm sure he's going to see it tonight at 11:30.
*sigh*
-
Yeah but you will have way more fun because you will be with all of us!
-
Yeah. I've got a good date night planned with Vallie tomorrown night too.
I get paid tomorrow and have the day off. It's going to be tricky for me to keep distracted all day. Especially since I have errands that will be taking me out to various places where there's theaters nearby.
I guess I'm just frustrated because the friends seeing it tonight were originally going to be out of town all weekend and wouldn't get to see it until Tuesday. I feel like they're taking cuts in line, you know?
-

haha, such a great film! I'm pretty much speechless, so I'll stop now, otherwise I'd just ramble on and on and on and on and on... ^_^
-
Compare it to Shrek the 3rd & Spider-Man 3. Which one of the three was best?
-
Well, I haven't seen Shrek the Third yet, though I really want to. But, compared to Spider-man 3, I'd definitely put Pirates 3 on the top. Not that Spider-man 3 wasn't amazing, but it definitely just paled inexplicably in comparison to Pirates 3. This movie is just so much larger, more epic, more climactic on such a larger scale. It just sucks the viewer in in a way that Spider-man 3 (for this viewer) did not. Spider-man 3 was great, but Pirates 3 is awe-inspiring.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to completely agree with you. I haven't seen Shrek the Third either, but it isn't really comparable considering Spider-man and PotC are both action, and Shrek is comedy. While Spider-man 3 was a great and awesome movie, PotC blew it outta the water.
Haha... pun'd.

OK, first of all, Shrek needs to die. They didn't even need to make a second one in my opinion. The first one was the best. Spiderman 3 was a HUGE disappointment. I waited in line for 6 HOURS!!! I didn't want to though, my friends surprised me and I had no way to get home. Pirates 3 was AWESOME! My only problem is that Keith Richards is a BAD actor. But that's to be expected. No offense to the Rolling Stones of course.
-
Whoo! There will be lots of us now! This shall be fun!
-
OK, so Chris and Jaz will be there around 5:30.
Leashy of course won't be coming down until after she gets off work (at 5?).
Vallie and I will probably be heading out a little earlier so we can stop by the mall. So if you call our house and we're not here we've probably already left.
Care to join us Mustash? We can hang out and get you another volunteer hour with Street Team!
-
I get out of work around 4:15 then I have to pick up dakrum and from there we will leave to the theater so we will probably get there around 5:30 as well <3
-
are you all going for the 5:55 showing of pirates?
I may join depending on showtime.
-
we are going for the 7:00pm showing
-
*grins* I think iv found something to make today a good day then.
*does the happy dance*
-
whoo there are going to be so many of us!

It had beautiful CGI and incredible action, especially towards the end, but an annoyingly convoluted plot. It also didn't seem as fun as the other two. Don't get me wrong, there were some hilarious moments ("... shoo.") but they felt few and far from each other. I'm surprisingly happy with how the ending came out though. Things wrapped up nicely.
And yes, between Shrek 3, Spidey 3 and Pirates 3, this one takes the cake. ;)

That's funny because I felt that way about the second one and that the 3rd one was a better balance ^^

Did you stay for after the credits? Just wondering.
But, I actually loved all three films. Indeed, the second one was darker, as the tone and content somewhat required it to be. This one I felt had much more character humor, a lot like the first movie. I loved everything about it, though by the end, I found myself caring very little for both William and Elizabeth. William annoyed me with all his constant betrayal and traitoring, and Elizabeth just plain bugged me by the end of the second film, and it pretty much carried on through this one. But, nothing to reflect poorly on the film itself, which I found astounding.

when we went to see we almost took up an entire row of the theater
we passed candy back n forth it was fun

Yeah, I stayed behind. After seeing that the first two had 'prologue' endings, I figured this one wouldn't be any different. Surprisingly, it was. The prologues for the first two were completely humorous while the third was serious and made for romantics. No problems or anything, just an odd change of pace.
I agree with your standing on Will and Elizabeth. By the third movie comes around, they're almost completely different characters it feels like. Will siding with the enemies to free his father just seemed... bogus. Granted he was emotionally betrayed by Elizabeth and felt little compassion for his original side as a result.

It's a Hollywood film! Don' t think to hard about it! So long as you gave them your $$$, the film suceeded.

Why do you feel sorry for them? It wasn't all that great....I did enjoy looking at all the funny names in the credits. IE: one guy had the last name Killmaster and another had the last name of Death. And don't forget Bob Friedman.

Aw man! I was looking for him too!
Greg Killmaster is an ILM tech and I look for him in every movie! I can't believe I missed him this time!
