I was mistaken for a female today...
« on: February 04, 2010, 09:49:16 pm »
Out eating some delicious steak with a friend in springfield, I was confused for a lady by a server coming from behind. "can I take your plate maam?" as she walked around and saw my face "oh I'm sorry your hair was slicked down so perfectly in the back I thought you were a woman." I guess I have feminine hair... but my facial hair and ugly mug in general brought her back to reality... I didn't know whether to laugh, or be mad, all I managed to say was "don't worry about it, I've been called worse."  :-\

i had that happen on black friday, buying assassins creed 2, I'm 24, it's pretty ridiculous how intense people are about that stuff.

Hey, that's not too bad. She said it while she approached you from behind which isn't as bad as the front. I wouldn't think too much of it. ^^

I get mistaken as a female a lot while I'm taking orders at my Taco Bell.  I was also mistaken as one a lot at KCon '09, but then again, I sort of set myself up for it then.

I'm sorry...
I've been mistaken for a guy several times.
This comes in handy for when I crossplay, but is annoying when I don't.
Therefore, I can kind of claim to know how you feel.

When I was in fifth grade, my dad did a lot of historical reenactment (like SCA). Him and his buddies would go to ren faires dressed as winged hussars and do demonstrations about Poland during the middle ages.

One time, my dad took me with him and he didn't tell his friends, so the only costume they had for me was chain mail. Full chain mail. A lot of people thought I was a boy because my long hair was covered.

I once got mistaken for a boy...By the mayor of Hillsboro. D: Which is good, since I crossplay, but I seem to be more feminine now than I was then. ='D
Possible Future Cosplays:
Sergio - Minor Acts of Heroism

I used to get mistaken for a lady-fellow quite a bit.  Not so much any more, which is funny because now I wear a lot of women's jackets and stuff because I like form-fitting clothes, whereas I used to wear much more masculine clothing back when I was frequently mistaken for a woman.  I think it's my mustache.  It sticks out far enough that unless you're directly behind me, you can see it.

Well, a few of my friends say that except for my chest, I look like a guy. Not quite the same, but it still made me think of this...maybe it'll help when I finally crossdress.
