Animal Crossing cosplay questions.

I would love to cosplay as Rover from Animal Crossing but haven't really got a clue where I should begin.  OK, well, I feel like I should at least start with the head part .. but where do I begin?  Would it be a good idea to do the ol' paper mache thing or have we evolved past that?

Anyone have any experience along these lines?  Maybe made a Pokemon cosplay or something? XD

Well... For Blathers I was thinking I'd make a big mascot head (whether paper mache' or otherwise) then make a spherical body piece thing for the torso, make wings and attach them to the body thing and then make boot covers for his talon thingys... I really don't know what I'm talking about, sorry! Woah, Blathers moment

Mascots are REALLY hard to do for your first time. When and doubt I would start with the body suite.

make some choices. do you want to look like you have fur or just have it like a plain spandex suite? If its the later you can buy it off the net more than likley. the first ones are harder to find and youll probably have to make your own.

I havent made a mascot before but I'm working on something like it.

there are a lot of tutorials and help online for mascots, I suggest posting on cosplay.com for help or searching google for tuts!
