These three players are after hiiiiiiiiiigh stakes, but they'll have to avoid the Whammy, as they play the most exciting game of their lives!
From Kumoricon in Portland, it's time to PRESS YOUR LUCK!
Hello everyone, I'm Jon Bressler, and I will be your host for Press Your Luck this year. We're bringing one of the most exciting game show panels from Sakura-Con down to Portland for a chance at exciting prizes!
Let me explain how to play the game, even though I will be happy to do so at the convention:
First, we have a question round, with the questions relating to anime and video gaming, as well as Japanese culture. A player will (hopefully) buzz in and give an answer. That answer will be presented to the other two players, as well as two other possible correct answers. If the player that buzzes in gets the question right, they earn 2 spins, while the players who answered correctly via multiple choice get 1 spin.
After four questions, Play goes to the Big Board where players turn their spins into bucks. Players will simply hit their buzzer to stop the board and whatever they land on is what they win. If they land on a Whammy, they lose all of their bucks. If a player gets four whammies, they are our of the game.
When all spins have been used up, we have one more question round, with buzz in answers worth 3 spins. We go to the big board with much higher stakes, and the player with the most bucks wins the game and a prize.
What's different in this version is that there will be bonus prizes. Certain prize squares will be actual prizes, ranging from a DS game to a 3-day pass at Kumoricon or Sakura-Con 2010! The catch is you must win the game and not hit a Whammy, or you lose the prizes!
More info to come, but for now, here's some videos of PYL at Sakura-Con 2009:
