Anime Day at Suncoast

Hello,
First, to any admin that may be reading this and considers this an advertisement, aside from being a customer I am unaffiliated with the movie entertainment store Suncoast. 

Every two or three months Suncoast at Loyd Center (Portland) hosts an Anime day that often includes discounts on anime, a trivia contests, and a cosplay contest.  I attended one today and aside from me, my sister and one other participant there were no other cosplayers.  While it was all that easier to win a prize (gift certificates to the the store) I couldn't help but feel it would be more fun if more participants were present. 

The next anime event is expected to be in September (exact date pending) on a Sunday.  As this was a thread for activities around the time of the convention I thought I might bring it up here to see if more people might come to the event. 

There used to be 3 Suncoasts in the area but now there is only this one and this is the only store to my knowledge that holds this sort of event (FYE partner stores don't do cosplay contests to my knowledge).  I personally enjoy these events as another opportunity to bring my cosplay outfits out of the closet and show them off in front of other fans.  As such I would love to see more people attend.

Yeah, there was a thread about this, but no one was terribly interested. Usually people go to these events to socialize, as opposed to just join the contests, and since there are already so many other events planned it just wasn't worthwhile I suppose ^^;

But actually, FYE does have these events too, and they do get quite an audience (when we know, anyhow.) It just will depend on how busy everyone is once the day rolls around...

For some reason, I expect them to be stupid and plan it on the day of Kumoricon :'DD But most likely that won't happen. Thanks for the heads up I guess.

I usually hold meetups and stuff for events like this and check in with suncoast and fye often

I knew about it, but forgot. I'll probably go to the next one, since I'll actually have my cosplays done by then. I've never actually been to one yet...

sadly our suncoast in the rouge vally mall got closed downa dn the nearest one is in eugene ;_; but they were a lot of fun, i met local people that liked to cosplay as well. i've often wished theyd bring suncoast back down here or at least start up in sam goody but they wont.

i went to one once in Eugene at the valley river mall. my friend and i helped judge the best cosplay competition and we each won bleach movie posters.

Next Suncoast meeting is on September 27th, I go to each one at the Vancouver westfield mall. we get a good audience of 12- 20 people each time, but i would like to see more of our local otakus there ; A ; sad.

I know the employee that runs the event there so I cant really skip out on him.

Just curious, how many people show up to the one at the lloyd center?

I wonder if they'd allow my wooden Zanpakuto in the mall? Probably not... I'd probably have to leave it home which, unfortunately, is part of the Bleach cosplay. Though I guess I could always wear another one of my cosplay outfits...
