I was watching an episode of pokemon and they were going through Team Rockets belongings and they had POGS! FREAKING A POGS!!!!! Anyone else remember these things?

oh God flash back to 6th grade when they were popular. i had like 20 or so then i got a ton right when they stopped being popular sigh... i still think about Oy favorite Pog it had a t rex attacking a chicken leg on it.

I used to go to a full blown POG shop when I was little, I was suuuuuper into it for awhile. I still have a ton of them stashed away with some epic slammers in my brothers closet somewhere. XD

Check wikipedia for "tidleywinks" and then you'll know.

Pogs got their start back when the milk man was around. The tops of milk bottles would have the little cardboard circle on it to keep it fresh. you get two bottles a day, every day, and those little things pile up. Kids in the 50s (supposedly in Hawaii but I doubt that) invented the game. Over time they got their own art and dealers and trade rules were created. Like an overhyped game of marbles.

Fun Story about POGs,

Back in Henderson Nevada (think city where people actually lived next to Vegas before North Las Vegas wasn't slums... oh wait...)

We used to play POGs all the freaking time... and it was awesome... then I moved to Oregon;
Flash Forward to my 6th grade year and the Pokemon TCG phenom... (oh and tomogachi's too)
When the PTCG was banned from the school lunch area (and pretty much the school in general)
all my friends were complaining there was no fun game to play after lunch was done. So I brought
my 15,000 strong POG collection to school for everyone to play!

Then I found out that 6 years prior, POG's had been banned and the punishment for bringing them, which
was still on the books, was 3 days suspension... Luckily they didn't suspend me, but I had to have my
parents come pick up the POGs from the principles office... my dad thought it was ludicrious, and tried to get me to bring my model rocket building kit to school, to see what they'd do with THAT... lol

The end... fun story neh?

I was about to say "I used to be one of the bros" (At least my friends said I was allowed to be one of the guys) But that seems to imply some kind of post-op situation I'd have to be in and since I've never been to Tijuana or even my Grandmothers home town of El Passo... it just seems to be an easily seen through fallacy.

Yo works... I like "guy" cause you can use guy for anything... My favorite pencil is named guy!

Don't you love school rules that the students don't have access to? I could tell lots of stories... don't get me started...

There are some really dumb rules. I don't understand why hair color, body ink, or piercings would "disrupt my education" its just silly!
but luckily at the school i'm at now, there aren't really any appearance rules ^^

Yeah friggin... I once got detention because back packs were not allowed in the school lunch room and my purse was one if those that looked like mini tiny back pack

but yeah pogs ...I wish I knew where my dino chicken eater pog was I loved that thing..

I don't know if it was invented there, but when I lived in Hawaii they certainly were very popular.
Businesses would use pogs as business cards and hand them out to kids to bug their parents with. XD

Indeed you are Griff...I used to have a HUGE POG collection that I ended up selling a while later when they were losing popularity lol. Oh the memories...

I was in school when they started adding more & more retarded rules about colored hair, piercings, body ink, trenchcoats, etc...never made much sense to me as long as the kids were learning. WHO CARES! One rule that made me laugh when I was in middle school though...short story time.

In science, there was a new lab project where we had to extract capsicum oils from habanero peppers. Obviously the teachers provided gloves & instructions to make sure not to contact your skin, eyes, etc. Well, you know how some kids are when you introduce new, interesting information that could possibly be turned into a contest of sorts...oh ya. Kids started buying habanero peppers at the store & daring others to eat them...which in turn, led to several kids getting sick & having to go home throwing up. After that, they literally had to make a rule that if you brought any peppers to school, diciplinary actions of suspension & up to expulsion would be taken. Several kids were suspended within a couple days lol. Some people...

I remember them!

I only had like twenty, cause there was NOWHERE to get them in my little hometown. My Gram brought me some from Hawaii, and I think they all ended up in a garage sale about eight years back.

My favorite had this fifties icon family and said "the family that plays together, stays together, POG". Awkwardly funny.
