Kumoricon noob can has questions
« on: July 21, 2010, 06:15:54 pm »
So, I've never been to Kumoricon, what with me being new to Portland and all. Anyway, I'm looking to attend Kumori this year, BUT I need a little help.

Firstly, I missed prereg, so I can only afford one day. What day do you recommend I go and why? (I'm assuming I register on the day I attend, as is normal among other conventions) I like dances, and cosplay contests always rock. If that affects your advice any.

Also, I ought to have Larxene done by then. So who would people rather see, Larxene or Xigbar? I have to get ready at con, so I can only do one cosplay.

And lastly, any of you cool people I ought to look out for and say hi to?

Firstly, I missed prereg,

No you didn't. It's still open, until August 15:

Saturday, for sure.
KH photoshoot is that day, and also the ravey dance is typically saturday night.

And you can still hang out in several areas of the con without having a badge the other days if you so wish.

And look for me! I like people, and I don't bite hard at all, really!

Cool, I kinda figured Saturday would be best.

There are place you can go without a badge? Really? Were?

Will do. Who'll you be cosplaying as?

If I remember correctly, the lobby and other such loitering areas. The only places they check your badge are for the panels, dances/other events, and the dealer's room.

I'll be doing the cosplay in my sig, in that order. moon is day 0, rikku is 1, serah is 2 and rose is 3.

Yay, Saturday.

Wow, I've never been to a con that let people without badges really anywhere except the registration tables.

Okay, so help me out here. What day is day 0?

You can't really go anywhere other then the lobby and around the hotel, but whatever~ xD
And there's always fun stuff happening outside the hotel and whatnot.
Day 0 is pre-reg Friday I believe.

If you pre-register now for only $40, you're covered for all three days. I think there was an attendance cap last year at the door at one point when the con was really full... Someone correct me if I'm wrong! I'm old, and my memory is failing. :P

Welcome, and I hope you enjoy K-con with us! ^.^
And so it begins...

Yes, there was. And it is likely to happen again this year.

That also happened briefly during 2008.

For OHH So many reasons, I suggest going pre-reg.

If you want i can tell you, but at the least keep 2 things in mind.

1) $40 for 3 days, or $30 per day.
2) THE CAP IS 3500, we are at 1625 aprox, they will go fast. Single day passes are not Guaranteed to be available.

Depending on Pre-reg, we may have a limited number of 3 day passes at the door.

Normally, I would be all for prereg. I've been to enough other cons to know that it's the best way to go. But things are a little flaky for me right now. I suppose I have until august, so maybe by then things will clear up. It's something I'll have to think about.
