Hey Gang! Here are a bunch of CHILDREN enjoying ADVENT while awaiting Christmas!
Hope you are all having fun preparing for the holiday!




This is off a nice German Advent calender. For those unfamiliar, during each of the December days 1 thought the 24th you locate and open the little numbered windows.
Some calendars have little chocolates or other candies  - one per day! - behind the pop-outs.

I had one as a little kid that had chocolates in it. Such little treats to have before Christmas, when there was no way I was going to wait a WHOLE MONTH.

I have one that is reusable and my mom filled it with GOOD candies this year. (And I heard some change jingling around...)

I also remember hearing that you sing Advent carols until Christmas, then Christmas carols till Epiphany. (January 6th.)

I can only remember the names of 2 or 3 advent songs:

On Jordan's Bank
Veni veni, Emanuel
Venez divin Messie (yeah half my family is from Quebec so we learn the French ones...)

I'm not sure if While Shepherds Watched counts as an Advent carol or not, but the harmony is quite pretty, and I used to get away with singing 'While shepherds washed their socks by night...' for the opening line.

Hey - they appropriated the word 'Advent' - a very special time of year - for a game title, so we get to addle with it to get back at 'em.
Not waiting for Lenten Children, though.

I think mine went to the 25th a few times (depending on what brand of calender we got that year) but i always forgot to eat the candy on Christmas lol.

I had the "honor" of getting one of these, full of bad candy. I had a really good one though too.
