assembling your cosplays
« on: October 25, 2010, 02:39:08 pm »
I know a topic like this one has been done before but I wanted one with a little twist. The third option is a bit of an extra. Most people either buy or make. But what if you have a friend do it for you. Like you buy the material and they make it?

I say this because I know my friend sage and I have a few friends that rely on us a lot to make them costumes. Or at least help out with some things since we have the skill.

So whether you do one of them or you like to buy as well as make that's cool. I just wanted to get a little headcount for my own interest on the subject.

Well, I'm kind of new to it, and thusfar have only made one cosplay, but I made it. And I'm planning on making my one (maybe two) cosplays for next year's con as well.
My mother does help me with figuring out some sewing issues if i get stuck somehow, but other than that...

Depends on the cosplay.
For example: Someone like Carl Clover from Blazblue I will make myself with occasional help from Irene, while something like The 2nd Doctor I'll just collect the pieces from thrift stores.
When it comes to wigs, I get help from tas110 (Tommy, my broseph~) and when it comes to weapons I get help from either nora (Erin) or Blizzara Dragon (Clint).

I do a lot of commissioning for my friends as well (like you said, they buy the fabric, I sew it).
I think that goes with the topic of this thread.
(My apologies for horribly unorganized post, I'll modify it later >.>;;)
Next con: Kumoricon
Make sure to pop in to the Tiptoe Through the TARDIS panel this year.
It is going to be...

I make everything for myself.

And then everything for my boyfriend.

And then if people in my group or friends need stuff I will try my best to help.
WHY DO THE FORUMS SUCK SO BAD?

I make or modify everything, with a little help from my mum.

Oh, well except for like, my Yuna skirt. Which she made. From scratch. 'Cause she's incredible.

I've never straight up bought something that I didn't alter afterwards a little. I style all my own wigs, too.
