Music Thread!

I was just wondering what the general populace of the Kumoricon Forums listens to. I'm sure we can't all just listen to J-Pop and the like, right? So general music discussion!

I've been listening to a lot of Radiohead and Miami Horror as of late. I'll listen to just about anything, but boy do I love me some house and indie/alternative.

My music choice is very different from most people... I like music that goes with stories, which includes movie soundtracks, video game soundtracks, TV show theme songs, and musicals. I also like foreign pop music. There are a few specific artists/groups that I follow, but not many.

You want me to narrow it down? I like  20th century classical, neoclassical metal, prog metal, and pop.

I listen to everything. But there's a few artists that get about 80% more hits on my iPod than anything else.

Regina Spektor, Patrick Wolf, Ben Folds (and all iterations and bands thereof), Ludo, Suzanne Vega, The Brunettes, The Decemberists, GRUM, and various soundtracks.

But other than that, I like everything from Lily Allen to MCR, Ellie Goulding to Deathcab for Cutie, Coldplay to Florence + The Machine, Marina and the Diamonds to Maroon 5, Bob Dylan to Disney songs, Elton John to Letters to Cleo... the list goes on.

I listen to pretty much everything, except I usually don't like country music. However, a majority of my songs are in other languages that include a myriad of different bands. These languages include English, Spanish, Italian, French, German, Arabic, Turkish, Farsi, Greek, Norwegian, Danish, Finnish, Swedish, Chinese-Mandarin, Japanese, Estonian, Lithuanian, Welsh, Scottish Gaelic, Irish Gaelic, Romanian, Hungarian, Russian, Serbian, Hebrew, Korean, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and Faroese. Some groups are rock, some techno, it greatly varies.

Sooo .. basically .. that's some sort of mix of death metal, black metal, folk metal, blackened death metal, thrash metal, viking metal, melodic death metal, aggrotech, heavy metal, technical death metal, power metal, progressive metal, rock opera, grindcore .. ummm ..

I like pretty much all genres, but metal represents 90%+ of my music consumption.  Maybe when I have some more time I'll list some bands I like from other genres. ^^

I like electronica, dance, house, techno, stuff that has a good tune and a good beat. For instance: Calvin Harris, Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta, Deadmau5, Tinie Tempeh, Mexican Institute of Sound, Pendulum, Justice... I could go on. I also like a lot of rap (as long as it's not super brutal and/or graphic), especially in other languages. And then I have a secret love for Coldplay (say what you will, the musician in me loves their music), Lady Gaga (SO CATCHY), auto-tune, and... Lots of other stuff. I'll listen to anything once and while my music taste is pretty all-over-the-board I guess the previously mentioned stuff is what I'm into most.

Well my favorite music group of all time and forever more is Depeche mode, but my other favorites are Porcelain and the tramps, Nightkilla, Vocaloid, and..er..Disney songs xD Not really a group, but still...and just about anything else that sounds good xDD

As for myself, I like just about anything as long as it sounds good to me lol...& yes, that excludes country music as it doesn't sound good at all. I listen to everything from classical music all the way up to death metal.
