"Technically" only those saved by God were going to die. The rest of us must suffer 100 days of Hell on Earth before we are killed in October. So yeah...God didn't save us... >.>;

Actually, if we're going to talk about scripture, the raptured don't die, they are simply "taken", after which those who remain on the Earth will have 7 years, known as the tribulation, to come to God before Christ returns and ultimately establishes His Kingdom.

But, that's scripture...you may have been referring to the miscalculated doctrine that started this whole May 21st thing in the first place, in which case...continue.  ;D

At 6:31 I ran out into my front lawn and laughed like a mad man.

I wonder how the people who believed that are feeling right now

In case no one has posted these quotes anywhere else, one CANNOT (a) state a precise prediction of when a 'rapture' or Doomsday event will certainly occur and then (b) say the Bible told you so, because the Bible says quite the opposite - it says no one but the Father knows:

Matt 24:36 "But of that day and hour no one knoweth, not the angels of heaven, but the Father alone."

...and it also says that "ye"  - that's anyone reading this right now, and also including me - DO NOT KNOW:

Matt 24:41: "Watch ye therefore, because you know not what hour your Lord will come. "

Speaking of End Times, don't forget (backing up a bit) Matt 24:11 "And many false prophets shall rise, and shall seduce many."

and also to be prepared to tough it out till the end: Matt 24:13 "But he that shall persevere to the end, he shall be saved."

See - told you the Retirement Plan is great!!

Even the guy who went around spouting that the world was gonna end didn't believe it, there was something about him having tons of money saved up on the news the other day.

I'm just going to continue my typical ritual of laughing in peoples' faces everytime the world doesn't end.

I want to know what he used to calculate the day of rapture.  I remember hearing once that Isaac Newton (at least I'm sure it was him) came up with something that made sense at the time I heard it, calculating that it will happen in 2060.  I don't think it will be then, either, but at least his reasoning made sense.  What did this Oaklander use for making his calculations...?

I *do* remember reading that a bunch of Renaissance-era noodniks thought that the world was going to end in 1666 AD for no other reasons than because (a) the '666' in it, and (b) 1666 = 1 + 5 + 10 + 50 + 100 + 500 + 1000: in other words, all the letters of the Roman Numeral system. ( I, V, X, L, C, D, M.)

And the odometer of the years rolled over yet another predicted 'End...'

Here's what he's saying now. XD http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110524/ap_on_re_us/us_apocalypse_saturday I like how fast he's backtracking. I expect more laughing at this to come in October.

Best rapture joke I've heard so far - when a kid in my science class asked on Friday (jokingly) if the homework was still due on Monday if the rapture happened, my teacher just smiled at him and said of course, because she knows we'd all still be here. XD I love her.
