CHRISTMAS 2011
« on: July 08, 2011, 10:50:00 pm »
Is 170 days away! :D
It's time to start looking and ordering before the big rush starts. Find good hiding places and sneak things away.
I know some of you think this is early but it's really not. ONLY 170 days out of 365! That's less that 1/2 of the way left!

But while a lot of people scramble around Thanksgiving to get things for Christmas, my family likes to plan early. At least start getting a list together of things you want. And if your birthday hasn't come yet, this is also a good time for that.
If you give your family a list early on then they have more time to find the things you want at a good deal. Sometimes they can even get you something now that won't be as easy to get later on. If something doesn't come out until later (like a video game), list the release date so they know when they can get it. Maybe even send them a link to where they can find it at to help them out a bit. :)
Heck, you can make a Note on facebook and tag your family in it and then update your wishlist when you find things. It doesn't have to be for Christmas but anything you see that you want and then it makes things easier so you don't forget and your parents can't say you never gave them any notice.

BUT! In the spirit of the on coming Holiday, here's a little mood music. :)

lol My family just likes to shop early and we hide things away.
My mom has been posting on facebook with Christmas stuff. It's a big thing for my family cause it's a time where everything is peaceful and we can "relax" together and enjoy life. My parents both work in a prison so Holidays are important to them. They normally work them (They get paid double on holidays) but the few hours we get to spend together is made worth while. But also our Holidays normally last a few days. Like we have dinner the night before instead of the night of and we either wake up very early on Christmas (as in 3am since my father goes to work at 4am) or wait until both my parents are home (after 9pm). This year Christmas is on a Sunday so my father is off but my mom goes to work at 8am so it won't be too early this year.

But because we barely see each other we make a big deal of the time we do have together. My mom likes to remind us every few days how many days are left for holidays and birthdays.

Oh well that's nice ^^ It still seems pretty early though xD I mean it's not even the end of July yet and normally the Holliday season starts shortly after Halloween.

You've never heard of Christmas in July? XP
Our baseball stadium does it, too. They also have a Summer Halloween event.

The Christmas season needs to stay in the Christmas season, in my opinion.  Summer should focus on Summer, Halloween should focus on Halloween, and Thanksgiving should focus on Thanksgiving!  It's bad enough that the Christmas season plagues my birthday... >:(

Wait... why do I care?  I celebrate Hanukkah... :D  Silly me!

My Christmas shopping starts maybe octoberish after my friends birthday, because that way I don't get her something she is already getting.
This year we are going to tone down Christmas a bit because of baby bills and such.
I am a crazy lady who will hit stores on black Friday.  But a deals a deal, and if I can get a video game for 20% off thats money saved.
Toms (forum tom) birthday is in February so I almost always end up buying his present early and hiding it until then

Tho birthdays I am famous for planning and buying things way in advanced.  I try to be a present ninja and listen to what people say that they want or things they like thru the year.   Like this year for Vallie, I have half of her birthday present bought since May, so 5 months early.

One year it was almost a year, when I heard Vallie say she had never gotten and always wanted a bear in a balloon, which gave me time to find a place where they do that (shop in mc minville will put anything in a big balloon for a fee)
