Greg Dean and the Real Life Comics Panel

Did anybody else feel a little bad for these folks? I was in that group of kids that tried to sneak out at the end when Elizabeth (?) yelled "WHERE ARE YOU GOING!?" at us and I was like, "Uh, uh... to the bathroom!" and she was like, "SIT  DOWN!!"

I did think that it was hilarious that Greg's response to "Who are you?" was, "Fred Gallagher... oh yeah, NOW YOU CARE!"

Later I saw Mr. Dean all alone in the exhibition room looking very lonely. I thought about going over and comforting him, but didn't know what to say.

Somebody knew who they were, right? I've read the comic in the past, but it's been a while since I kind of stopped reading webcomics altogether once I got to college.

Nice people though, right? Good times? Anyone? Bueller?

I stopped by the booth with my wife and children. Greg likes One Piece and quickly spotted the "Luffy" plushy we bought him. We also went to his panel. My wife stayed through the whole thing, there were 2 other panels I had wanted to take a peek at. I like their comic a lot of it I can relate too... strangely. Hhhhmm. LOL! Yeah they are really nice, good sense of humor. It is easy to talk to them though, just like you would talk to anyone else.

Seriously though, I was just hoping that he wouldn't recognize my friends and I as, "The chumps who ran out of my panel," which was the bigger reason that I didn't talk to him. Not that he probably would've cared or anything, but I'm super-self-conscious like that, and tend to worry about silly little things.

That's cool that they're friendly, though, and have good senses of humor. I'm really glad that they had at some nice fans there. I feel less bad about dashing out of the panel now.

I've been reading Real Life for a year and a half (I think?) and they're good people. I liked asking Greg questions and talking to him than reading his comics, as it turns out. Weird.

He's humble about his material but not so much that he lets it affect the quality of his work, and that makes him cool in my book. In the Q&A panel we didn't have that many questions so his lady-friend (I dunno if that was Liz or his female friend whose name I forgot >_> ) told us to do the WAVE about half a dozen times throughout the rest of the time. One of the attendees in the audience was talking on her cell phone and Greg's friend came down, asked for the phone, called the last number called on the phone and asked if they usually talk to people during panels. Hilariously though, the person she called was not the person the girl was talking to before Greg's friend took it. All the while Greg was saying "What are you doing? What the hell! You are evil! Pure evil!" to his friend.

Yeah, I read the comic daily and I think it's pretty solid.  Not always kick me in the face funny... but constantly humorous.

I hung out w/ them at dinner and on sunday night a bit.  Liz has done cosplay a bunch and really likes costumes, so Joanna and talked to her a bunch.  Greg is just a gamer/anime geek that has found a purpose it seems.  They're pretty darn neat.

Me and my traitor friends went in there, and after about 5 minutes they left. I stayed for about 20 minutes even though I didn't know what Real Life Comics was xD It was slightly entertaining, but just plain rude to walk out in the middle since we weren't close to the doors or anything.

Heh.  I didn't go to the panel, but after Liz and Greg finished eating with Stark they ended up joining our table (my boyfriend was one of the cosplay judges, and the cosplay coordinator was sitting there too, which is why Liz joined us in the first place).  It was cool.  We chatted about art and webcomics and making armor and costumes.  We also got to watch Liz go from chatty to plastered.  It was freaking hilarious.  Greg is really cool, and so is Liz, but Liz three sheets to the wind was about the funniest thing I'd ever seen at a con.  She got real chatty.

Greg said he'd be in the dealer's room in the morning on Monday, too, so he could sign my katamari, but he wasn't there.  Liar.  *shakes fist*

Gregs wife was sick on Monday morning so he was dealing with that, that was why he wasn't there.

So that was in fact Liz up there with him? Ah alrighty. I knew Liz was his wife (I do now anyways; I asked him if they were engaged or truly married at the panel ) but wasn't sure if the woman who was with him was Liz or the other female who appears in the comic (but rarely). I think her name's Ashley?

Aw, now I feel all bad.  I knew who he was and I was happy that he was a part of the con, but I didn't go to his panel.
