What kind material to use
« on: October 25, 2012, 04:15:37 pm »
OK everyone, I need a second of your time.  My sister wants to make a Kanna cosplay from Inuyasha.  Obviously we need a white material.  But I've heard that satins are really crappy for taking pictures in.  She would like something a little on the thick side cause she will be wearing this to Sak in March as well as Kumo.

Does anyone have a recommendation for fabric?  Something that won't wrinkle too much, that is easy to sew, won't shrink too much.

Thanks in advance.

A nice 100% cotton will be best (and cheap, too!). It fits all your criteria: cotton doesn't wrinkle easily, is very easy to sew, and will only shrink in the first washing. Kimono are traditionally made out of silk or silk brocade, but that will be A) very expensive and B) not very warm.

Your sister is definitely going to want to wear some warm underclothes with this costume, no matter what you make it out of, though.
