Post con routines or traditions?
« on: September 02, 2013, 09:18:34 pm »
I have a few, first after rant and rave, I like to walk the con space one more time noting how quiet it gets. Second only when I am back at home, I take of my con badge, it hard for me to let go. Third I do quick Japanese meal like  curry rice, and  watch a lot of anime till bed time  to decompress and get ready to go back to work.

It's hard to take the costume off and go back to being yourself sometimes. After a con I'm generally... numb. If this can be called a tradition, I like to go home, take a long shower, get some food (finally! I tend not to eat much during cons!) and sprawl out in front of the tv (with friends, if possible, one should never face Post-Con Depression alone) to talk about the con, view/sort pictures and then ... SLEEP.

Yes looonnnggg shower our a bath to peel off the con grime
I also cook, you get used to eating out and that gets spendy (tho I was really good this year), so even if tired I cook at home

And laundry so much, and my hubby and I watch an episode of an anime before bed

1. I take of my cosplay and spend about 10 minutes scratching my itches.

2. I spend some time alone in my room, recuperating from all of the human contact. (I think I may be mildly anthropophobic...)

3. I eat whatever my mom makes for dinner.

4. I take a shower.

5. I SLEEP.

As is the case with the other type of con (UU youth conferences), all there is to do after con is bemoan that everyday life isn't like con.
So I do that. Quietly when in the company of my family, and loudly on the internet, because you all understand.
All depression has its roots in self-pity, and all self-pity is rooted in people taking themselves too seriously.

By the way I simply look forward to the next con.  This year its Rose City Comic con.  I may still go to Orycon but this iffy. Defiantly  I will be at  Newcon.
Last year I did Kumoricon , then Rose city Comic con on the next weekend. After a two week break I went up to Seattle for Rainfurrest(furry). Three cons in a single month.

Recently, it's been my groups tradition to go to Red Robin after con, eat, talk about our favorite con moments, pick our cosplayer of the year, and then make our plans for next year.

I like to get out of costume and unpack, even if I don't put things away. I then make myself a simple dinner that requires little effort and then play with my cat. I don't like to watch anime or play a game or get on my computer because it causes me to stay up longer, and instead I just snuggle down to sleep.

Post-con routine for me involves getting/being depressed, sleeping, doing as little as possible to rest for about a week, and then unpacking.

Start unpacking, quarantine clothes with con funk, wash wigs, put everything away, proceed to watch anime and veg out.

Note to self; next year airborne is your friend. The con plague sucks, stupid cold T.T

haha mine is to start recovering from 3 days of drunkeness, then when my head clears up I remember all the great memories but it is bittersweet because I want to go there again. I had a great time this year and it was my best by far but I miss it SOOOOOOOO much allready

Go home, cuddle with my parrot, take shower, tell mom I'm going to unpack, fling suitcase on floor instead, show mom con swag with minimal explainations as to what any of it means, fall asleep at 9 pm. Sometime in the next few days I load the con pictures.

I worked the next day.   I actually enjoy my job so it helped me feel a bit better.  Then when I had down time, I thought of next years line up.

Immediately after the con I am contacting the AMV winners and collecting
postal mailing addresses, and their preferred animes so I can sort out
prizes.

Today the computers at the post office in my town were down, so I drove
to the Portland airport post office and mailed them ALL.

THAT is the last task in the AMV competition.
As of today, I truly feel relieved and can start to relax after 4 months of crunching...

NOW ON TO NEXT YEAR .... !

I always seek to get my con photos uploaded to Facebook as soon as possible, then I start looking for any pictures of my cosplays. Then, I usually have the bad habit of immediately buying accessories and needed items for my costumes/future cosplay ideas many months ahead of the next convention..

Welp, I get home...Undress while in a total stupor before taking a lonnggggg bath...Although I take a shower first cause I don't wanna be bathing in my filth :I

After that, I crawl from the bathroom to my bed (in my comfy pink elephant pajamas) and take a five hour nap before searching for food, eating various snacks, reminiscing, thinking about how I could never pull of a hot anime girl, think about whether or not my cosplays were good, then i kind get like, 'pft they were fine', then dinner....THEN SEARCHING FOR VIDEOS AND COSPLAY PICTURES.

Stalk a few people on DA, almost getting to the point of where I say, 'Hey i was so and so' but then I chicken out and go back to crying internally x'D then i sleep forever and the next day I dread the oncoming horror of school.

A tradition I started this year, and will continue into the future:
leave the con, and spend 3 days in Disneyland. It works wonders for post-con depression.
