What are some of the odd things you have found to use on a costume or the best place you have found for cheap materials.

A few weeks ago I used the brass feet off Suitcases as Studs for Gladiator arm bands

Cheapest Matierls I have found for making capes was when SVDP was dumping all the sewing stuff from the Sennca Street Store and I got 100 bed sheets in variours solid colors for about 10 cent each.

Hit up places that have huge machine parts for the foam they come packed in, it's often a hi density foam and sometimes in grey or silver

I think mine would have to be the time I found the vest for my Lupin costume.  I had everything else for my costume so I went to Goodwill in search for some kind of vest.  After searching for just a couple of minutes I came across the vest.  It was perfect; the right color, pattern, size, still in good condition, and used (for the Lupin effect).

My dad gave me three yards of old car upholstery out of my '67 Nova. I made my YUna belt and bag out of it.

Yeah ever since I read the making of DUNE (87 version) and learned that all the space suits were made from Car Upholstrey Vinyl I wanted to try something with it.  Some neabors gave me some Vinyl floor mates about 3 feet wide and 6 feet long I want to do somethng with it.  Ohh I could dye my hair red and go as Raban I'm to old for paul and I just dont think i'd make a good Fayed

I made nearly all of my save point moogle outfit out of one white fleece sweatshirt. I made the skirt out of the arms, and the necklaces/armbands out of the collar. For the shoes, I covered them with a towel, and the wings out of fabric I had left over from another cosplay. It was a total last minute costume, but really fun to wear.

Thrift stores are so good for cosplay.  My first time I cosplayed as Golgo-13 and after months of searching for the perfect grey/whitish suit I found one for $5.  I still can use it for multiple other cosplays like GTO, and Harry from Gungrave to name a few.

Last year I found my perfect red Lupin III jacket at Value Village for $5.  It was very nice.
The trick is not minding.

Oh yes I remember the things I made from old pringles cans and clothespins, those days were the best.  I wonder if the under sheriff has forgotten that night?  Mike did say his eyebrows grew back.  It's not like it was something really bad like the time I made a flamethrower and burned all the hair off both my arms.  And ha they said some one would loose an eye and no one did.

EDIT:  And don’t try that at home kids… Now you know
