Prop size limit?
« on: June 19, 2006, 11:26:46 pm »
I am wondering if there is a prop height limit. More specifically, I would like to do Seras Victoria's main weapon from Hellsing. I am assuming it would be about 6', and I am wondering if this would be allowed. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure that generally if it is wider than 3-4 feet, it won't be allowed.  Height, I don't think there's really a height limit - just keep it at a height you can easily control. Also, remember, no sharp edges!

I'm sure Kylite or Hawkeye will come in here and give their "official" ruling on the matter.

when it comes to large props we need to be sure you can control it.

anything 50% or larger then the body width is generally not ok unless well under control at all times :) its really a case by case basis. In the case of the prop for ceres victoria (the cannon) Just dont go swinging it about wildly and make sure its peace tied and ur good to go

I am planning on getting quite a bit of help from a friend, all I know is PVC piping and lots of paint.  If she's in the Portland area, perhaps we could have a prop-making session together!

...and, please, be aware of your prop's dimensions.  It would look like something out of a Three Stooges film short.

"Hey, Moe, where do you want this board."

  "Over there, numbskull."

  "Certainly."  --turns around--

Haven't seen this happen during conventions.
