help filling out parental consent forms
« on: August 02, 2006, 11:17:00 am »
I'm from Corvallis and I haven't yet preregistered, but I've been looking at the parental consent forms and I'm confused.

What if you're not planning on staying at a motel, but rather at the house someone who lives in the area?  And what if the "acting guardian" is already your parent or legal guardian?

Also, this is just for clarification, but you don't need to have someone at the actual con with you, right?  Just during the "curfew" hours?  (12am-4am, correct?)

I'm mostly just asking for help to fill out the actual form.  Nothing on the site is very clear.

Anyone ages 13-18 need a signed form to attend the con, (doesnt matter if your staying at a hotel or not, its for the con) having your parent give someone going with you to the con who's over 18 to be your guardain. My instance, Im 16. My dad gave permission to my 21 year old sister to be my guardian while there. Your guardian must be in the building somewhere.
But when it is after curfew hours, you have to be with them at all times.

If you are under 13, you have to be with your guardain at all times no matter if its before or after curfew. So if I was like 12, my dad would give my sister permission to watch me, Except I would have to go wherever she went.

If you're not outside or AT the con during curfew hours, do you still have to be with them, or is it just while you're there?

*sigh*  Still not really getting it...  :?

12 and under : must be attended by a guardian at ALL TIMES!

13-17: need to have a guardian onsite during con hours.
13-17: After curfew must be attended by a guardian at all times or in room.

18+: you are your own guardian, have a nice time.

note: guardians MUST be 21+

(correct me if im wrong here)

Soo... 13-17 CAN be at the con after curfew as long as they have a guardian?  Sweet!

And... The mother will not let me prereg.  Is it okay to present the form at the door?

So if a 16-year-old has left con during curfew hours (gone back to motel or wherever they're staying), a guardian isn't needed?  o_o

I'm really just wondering how to fill out the actual form though.  What about the "room number" slot?  Is that optional?

we would prefer you fill this in to save us time in the case that we need to find you due to a guardians request. and during curfew you must be either attended by a guardian or in yoru room (motel/hotel).

It really is your choice what to do in that regard BUT all access to minor badges will be blocked in regards to con activities during those hours.

Kay, different question, but I feel that it would be unnecessary to start ANOTHER topic...

Since I am being denied the right to pre-register, would it be acceptable if I printed out the parental consent form, have my mother sign it beforehand, and the present it at the door?  I will have my guardian with me and all, but she is not actually attending the con.  She will be staying in the hotel however, if it is necessary for her to come to the door.  >_>

??????? Help Please! ?????

I realize this question is a bit repetitive, but the rules do seem a little confusing.  I've never attended Kumoricon or any other con for that matter, and the only way I can make sure I am following all the rules is to present my specific situation and hopefully have one of you con-savvy people help me out.  Pretty please?

I and my friend (we are both SEVENteen) will be attending the con.  My guardian (my mom) must be in the hotel while we are attending the con, right?  But she doesn't actually have to register ($$) for the con because she won't attend the con, only be in the hotel...  Right?!

Please, help!    :?  :?:  :?:

What I'm getting is; you need a guardian ATTENDING the con to be with you if you want to be at the con during the curfew hours (12am-4am), and if you don't have one you need to be in your room.

And from what I can tell, it seems that you don't need to fill out the consent form/have a guardian if you're planning on leaving the con for those hours?  (clarify please?)

Here's my understanding...

If you're 13-17 (I think), your guardian has to be on the con grounds but not with you at all times.  When you go into different rooms and such, you can be on your own.  When you leave the con to get food or something, you guardian has to be with you.

She can walk around the hotel with no problems at all without registering.  You only need to register in order to enter events (Dealer's Room, Dance, Karaoke, etc.)

Anyway, that's my understanding.  I could be a bit wrong but I'm pretty sure this is it.

Thanks!  ^.^  All you know I all I ask.

It makes some sense, I guess.

As long as my mom doesn't have to register... She wouldn't have been happy to have to pay another thirty-five dollars!

Thanks!  Hopefully everything works out for everybody!

18+ = 18 years of age or older

this is the age a guardian must be.

if you are 12 and under they MUST be with you at all times.

if you are 13-17 they must be at the hotel, they do not have to be registered

(but we would love to have more registered people)
