Can any one think of a character that you would really never see at a con, yet has a some what difficult outfit to make?

Well, the first character to come to mind is Anima of Final Fantasy X, X-2. It is my dream cosplay. Absolutely terrible and monstrous and, obviously, stunningly impressive if pulled off right. I've never in my life seen an Anima cosplay, but I'd like to do it someday.

Yeah, hehe, I'm not sure about this year or not. I know I'm going as Barret Wallace of FFVII, and since that will be a pretty simple cosplay, I may attempt a second. I may not do Anima this year, though. I may not do it at all, unless I can think of a convincing way to pull off the whole "torso + inverted torso to create one big body" concept.

But you saw one last year? That's pretty cool. I must have missed it; cool that somebody was able to pull that off, if they did, though.

you know what i think someone should do?  cutie honey.  or any  of the  baddies from said anime/live action awesomeness.  they are pretty complicated, have props, and would need to be executed quite well in order for it to be exsiting. tee hee scarlet claw.

I just had a sick idea.  I all ready have one girl who may work with me at the repair station say she would dress like a anime mechanic girl (Winfrey from FMA but wearing her shirt as a shirt not around her waist).  To be fair I should dress like an anime mechanic or repair guy.  But who?  The only one I can think of is Mario (but he is way over done) and the crazy old sword maker from Inuyasha (I should at least put his robe on when I fix the foam swords)

Givon: If you are familiar with the manga "Bizenghast", the main character, Dena I believe her name was, dresses like the posterchild for Gothic Lolita. The manga-ka, M. Alice LeGrow, even mentioned she forbids anybody to cosplay as the main character unless they do it exactly as designed, and can pull it off. The costumes are always extremely intricate; so that, in addition to the specifications of the manga-ka, it could be quite the difficult cosplay!

BigGuy, your last link is broken.

Also, here's a thought: how about doing one of those over-the-top youmas from the live action Sailor Moon?  That whole show was like watching a bunch of cosplayers goofing around.

Well, it's not unknown or obscure really, but I have yet to see an Angel Sanctuary cosplayer at a con.  Depending on what character you cosplay (there are TONS) there are some very detailed outfits.  The artbook pictures would be best to check out for some good ones.

Kadaaaaaaaaj.

I saw no Kadaj, no Yazu, and no Loz in 06 which made me a little sad. ((I was also sad that there was no Axel from KH2))

Well I'm planning to go as Kadaj this year, however I have no idea how I'm going to make the cosplay. I'm thinking that it would be a better idea if I just bought it from somewhere.

If somebody is already cosplaying as Kadaj and it's DECIDED that they're going as Kadaj please let me know. If there is a Kadaj then I'm going as Yazu. ((if both are there then why not Loz? :D ))

You know, I've never seen anyone go as Aiko Magami from Project A-ko.  Even though it's not very complex, (Uncivilized Wars would probably have the most challenging outfit), it's a very influential anime.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba
My son's plans this year (thus far): Penguin Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh

Cosplay as a DDR Machine!

Seriously though. I suggest dressing up as the end boss of Final Fantasy 8. The Sorceress Ultimecia. It's from a common enough series but I've never seen anybody do any version of her.

Complicated costumes though.....hmmm....  Yeah, i'd have to go with the Sailor Moon Live Action Series. The youma were the monsters from each episode. I'd suggest you cosplay Queen Beryl.

I wasn't sure to post it here or in the Ouran thread.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to cosplay the high powered motor.

Should I wear a sign and then have a little platform with a doll....

I'd love to actually build a little raising platform that'd rotate upwards like in the show. It would need a big screw and a base and a panel strong enough to standon. but I don't think i could make one that I could carry around. Maybe if i had a hand truck.....

I think i'd just make a cardboard cut out or something that I could actually lift.

I think if you make the body out of Cardboard, you could use a very simple motor to just have the platform rotate.  You could use one that was made for something like Legos or K'nex, they are light and rotate relatively slowly so the platform won't go out of control, and they make noise, something that I recall her platform doing...
Just an idea...

Well I know for sure I could build a model of one. I'm talking about something full size.

If I was strong enough (or we get a light enough cosplayer) I'd like to just hold a platform and turn as I stand up with it. I'd have the label on my chest, a barrel on one side and small bicycle wheel on the other and some wood panelling on my back.

Yeah, I guess I couldn't really help you there.
Unless you could get a mannequin and dress it up/paint it.
They are much lighter then a cosplayer would be...
But I have no clue how much they cost or where you would get one, so that might not be feasible.

There are a few I can think of...
First, the "not at all practical for hall cosplay"
* Sophia from Last Exile in her green Empress dress. Reason: the train is about 100 YARDS long. First of all that is a heinous amount of fabric (and embroidery!!) which would weigh more than the cosplayer, and second, halls are not long enough to let it extend to its full glory.

Next, the "defies gravity" costume: Rachel from Glass no Kantai (translated to "Glass Fleet" by funimation)... this dress defies gravity. If one attempted to make it, the back part of the dress would have to be filled with helium, otherwise the cosplayer would fall over. Also, it is mich wider and taller than the average door, so only a really short person could get around wearing it.

What I want to do, though it'd be hell to make, is Temujin from the Second Naruto movie.

Or, I'd have issues with making some parts, but one of the Demon Brothers from Naruto (the Zabuza arc)

Plans for Kumori '08

Possibly more...

Kino from Kino no Tabi. Her coat is really really weird. I can't figure out how it's supposed to go. XD Though this year there will actually be two Kino cosplayers. Whooo~ Oh! Or if you are up for the challenge you could go as Hermes.

He's the motorcycle. :P

2008 cosplays:
Princess Mars from Sailor Moon
Lumina from Harvest Moon AWL/DS ?

That reminds me, I've never seen a Tachikoma cosplay. Or a Napolean from Tank Police cosplay. That'd be awesome.
