Since there's a lot of you guys who haven't joined Pocky Club yet and didn't get the latest issue of the newsletter, I thought I'd make the announcement here!

Pocky Club is having a meeting at Lloyd Center this Sunday. We'll be getting a table in the food court around noon (maybe sooner if I leave my house early enough). I'll try and get one near the balcony so we're more visible and easy to find!

If you don't actually want to be part of Pocky Club but you missed the last General Meeting, come on by! I'd be glad to fill you in on what you missed. I always take lots of notes and try and keep up on as much of the activity as possible so I can pass the information on to the Club members.

I'll be going over some of the activities we'll be doing during the convention and explaining the Club's new position as a full fledged part of the con!

and usually it ends whenever people need to leave. There's never really a set time for ending... But Tom says possibly 3.

Yeah, but does it have to be in the most dangerous part of Portland? (lloyd center: home of car thieves and vandals...). How 'bout someplace safer--if it's got to be a mall, then Washington Square Mall food zone would be a better choice. *I* would go there. Not Lloyd center. Both times we went to Lloyd center, our car's ornament was stolen ($75 to replace!!! too expensive just for a meeting). Baaaaaaaaaaaad part of town.

*sigh* Lloyd Center is not the most dangerous part of town. Not by a long shot. It might be the most dangerous part of town you've been to.

We meet at Lloyd Center because its right on the MAX and easy for those weird city-folk to locate. Its in the middle of everything. As far as they know Washington Square is off in Newberg somewhere.

If you're that nervous about car thieves then come park your car at my apartment and I'll escort you there on the MAX.

Just to recap for everyone, the meeting is 12:00 to 3:00. It might go later if people feel like it but I really oughtta be headed back to a friends house by then. The location is Lloyd Center Mall in Portland, just off the Red/Blue MAX line. Once indside look for us on the 3rd floor Food Court, somewhere near a balcony. I will have posters so we should be easy to spot.

Keep in mind this is the middle of the day. The mall and the outside park are things you don't want to venture into at night, but daytime is fine.

Hell if you want a shady part of Portland, go to west Burnside near Old Town. Interesting people.

Yes, there are worse parts in Portland....but I was seeking a nicer part of Portland and I don't like to find that my car's been violated while it was parked someplace.
The times at Lloyd center when my car was vandalized were both on Sundays between 1 PM and 3 PM... right when the meeting is scheduled and right in the middle of the day...so daytime isn't "fine". Now if I could find a way to have the car attack the vandal as soon as the car is touched... :wink:

If it was legal I know just the thing! A South African Car alarm!

When the lock is picked (or a button inside is puched by the driver) a 6 foot gout of flame shoots up from a nozzle just beneath the driver's door, completely enveloping the would-be thief. These are actually available in South Africa, and the footage I've seen online is awesome.

Runa, I'm serious about helping you get there if you want to come. I'm sure we can organize a carpool at the very least. There's at least three people driving there. Where would you be coming from?

With the lead pipe.
In the Biggest Mall in Oregon.

That's why Pocky Club works for Publicity!

I'll try and get there a little earlier to get two tables since so many of you are coming!

Also, I want to discuss driving to Eugene next month for a smaller meeting. It seems we have plenty of willing drivers...

I'll measure both for you. Most of my tape measures have both, one on each side, ya know. I've been itching to measure the doors on the ballroom since we first started talking about the stage.

Maybe I'll find out how tall all of the Pocky Club members are, or how wide we are standing shoulder to shoulder.

did you ever hear about the bridge near MIT in Boston? it's measured in "Smoots"... where the Smoot is the height of a particular professor. You know..... the next time the power goes out at home..... I am going to have to do that.

I'd measure the height and length of things ins Pocky (the individual sticks), the weight and volume would be in boxes and liquid-boxes.

OMG I know my project for this weekend. I will make the conversion chart for us all.

Hmm, I can't make out 3 of those kanji in the red circle but I can already tell you those aren't the kanji for the four seasons.

the kanji for fall is half the kanji for watashi (person me my self and i), and the other part is fire so fall is like "i'm on fire'
