All I have is a sleeping bag and a laptop with DVDs of anime. I can't really afford a room but I will try to spot a bit of cash for a crash...

Hi there, I'm 19, a male, and I'm coming up to Portland from way down in Southern California, I have enough money to pay for my share and would gladly appreciate if you could help me out, I'm aiming to stay for friday and saturday night, possibly Sunday,  please e-mail at Terror_Of_Zanarkand@hotmail.com if there's still space.

I would really love to help you out but all my rooms are full. I would say if I could get another group of 5 people then I would reserve another room but I think room registation is closed. If not THEN if I can get some more people, I would be happy to reserve another room for them ^_^

Please keep in mind that the hotel has a limit of 4 people per room.  The price the convention pays for the cost of the hotel space varies depending on how many rooms are rented because of the convention.   Even if you end up deciding to rent a room at the last minute and you are too late for the room block rate, please let the people at the desk know that you are renting a room because of the convention and that they note it.

The less the hotel charges us for the use of the rooms, the more we can put aside to have even more guests, prizes and more fun stuff for next year.

I know it's tempting to think about room squeezing, but please keep the good of the convention in mind.   (In case you are wondering, even staff members pay to get in!)

Yesh. Yesh. What I meant was I have more than 1 room under my name (more like 4 ^^;; ) so it's not a problem to either get another room-which they hopefully have- or put someone in one of my rooms. That's why I offer ^^  But to all those who need a room, I'm looking at getting another room, which means more space, please let me know.  :D

Bri!

Thank you so much for taking care of so many rooms for people.

As staff, when any of us see a public post where someone might be suggesting room stuffing, one of us needs to jump in with that little reminder.  It's nothing personal and we don't take notes or make a "list of people to watch out for" or anything.  It's just a reflex reminder.  All I'll take away from this thread now is that there is this great person named Bri who is doing a lot of arranging things for people.

I look at the con in a strange way. It's how I look at it myself, I'm not talking down to anyone.

It's like our cool parents are letting us have this GREAT three-day-party, as long as we take care of the expenses to run the party, don't tear the place down and follow some well spelled out rules.  Since we want them to continue to let us have this cool party every year, we need to make sure everyone does that.  Also, our "parents" have a lot of friends.  If we don't follow the rules at their "house," the other parents with cool houses also might not let us have the cool party again at their place either.  (Hotels can make so much more with business conventions where all the people in suits are on expense accounts and orders $30 roomservice breakfasts and since there is usually only one in a room, less clean up.)

I do have a question though. Why does it allow 6 people in a room if only 4 are supposed to be in there? Isn't that rather misleading?
