The March meeting date is now confirmed. We've had to move the date due to tax preparation classes taking up all of the space in the library. Instead of Sat, the 10th, we will be meeting on Sunday the 11th of March.

The Salem Library closes at 5 on Sundays.

Also, I won't be there. I had thought that the meeting was on the 10th, so I found a sub for that day. Now it's too late to find a sub for Sunday.

So, this is gonna be my first meeting (just moved back up here from CO), and I was just curious as to what to expect. Anything to bring, remember, etc. Just a little nervous about coming to my first one. Any advice for a noob? (Meeting noob, not con noob, I've been to one).

Bring yourself, your questions, an idea of what you'd like to do on staff (or if you have a staff position yet, find out who your boss is and what they look/act like), and have fun.

It's pretty casual. ^_^ The start of the meeting is department reports and then the majority of the meeting is spent breaking up into groups (usually around departments but sometimes just focused on a specific topic). This is a good time to ask directors, managers, or coordinators questions and also just wander around and listen and participate in discussions, and you can find something that interests you.

It's pretty easy to show up to a meeting and lurk and then pounce on something you want to do. Nobody will interrogate you or anything the first time you arrive, like a salesperson when you walk into some stores...

Haha, thanks for all the info. If I can get a hold of some pez, I shall. I wish I had a thirty year old spinster aunt, but alas, I don't. I'll have my boyfriend though. Who I've managed to get started playing kingdom hearts and watch some anime, haha. Now I just need to get him into rpgs and manga. It'll happen.

He actually wants to cosplay and possibly do some volunteering (and he's a closet DDR freak... oops, never said that). So I think he'll fit right in. I'm just glad I'm not dragging him along against his will, hahaha.

I'm going to have to miss the meeting unless I want to fail one of my classes. I just can't afford the GPA hit while applying to grad schools. I'm going to stay home and program like the little code-hacker I am. Feel free to beat me about the torso and arms (no head, hands or face please) the next time you see me. Brownie can know where I live if severe action must be taken. ;p

OH by the way! If any of you see a strong-looking girl with a Sesshoumaru tattoo on her left arm at the meeting, then her name is "Jo," and could you please tell her that Steve from the coffee shop says "hi" and thank her for coming.

I noticed her tattoo while getting a mocha at work in Salem and, of course, had to inform her of the anime convention that holds meetings three blocks away from her workplace.

She seemed pretty interested. I didn't go to work this week (caught the plague), so I didn't get the chance to remind her, but hopefully she looked into it herself since I last mentioned it to her.

Oh, and if you're into espresso, drop by the Blue Pepper, just north of the library. They have really good sandwiches and coffee, and you might see Jo behind the counter, for that matter.

Sounds like the plague was going around. Lots of people at my work were sick, and Guy and I got sick this weekend. Icky poo.

Yeah, I'm thinking that next Sunday would be good. I've got stuff to get together this weekend, like some webpage updates, newsletter articles, and an actual Pocky Club Newsletter update.

I've got big news and I want people to actually attend our next meeting. I'll try and give everyone 7 days notice.
