Costume help! Please read!
« on: June 29, 2007, 10:15:41 pm »
So I'm dressing up as Nuriko from Fushigi Yugi, and I don't know what to do about my hair. I just want it to be a plain purple braid. Well I have like NO money for a wig. My hair is the right length, but my parents would KILL me if I died my blonde hair purple. So really don't know what to do. Any help?

if no money is available, and dyeing isnt an option i guess youre left with that spray stuff.  which alot of the time only results in stringy hair if youre not carefull with it. and definately a powdery costume.

Well there is very temporary dye out there.  I used a dye once that washed out in about a week.  The only problem is that they're hard to find and might not come in that color.  You can ask your parents about that.

Are you sure you don't have a budget for a wig? Because 99% of the time you can find a good one on e-bay for under $20 and the best part is that it would give you multiple use for that costume so you wouldn't have to dye or spray your hair every time.

what color is your hair naturally. because if its dark, you may be able to get away with it for the time being and buy a wig later. Wigs are definatly the way to go. The spray stuff is a NO NO. It will rub off on your costume, props, family and friends! it gets EVERYWHERE. temporary dye is where Id go, IF your family OKs it

yeah you have to be carefull with that "temp" dye though.  like manic panic i think is technically a temporary dye,  and maybe this was because i was trying to make it last forever on my sisters head (i dyed her hair super cute it was aqua on the top and dark pink underneath) but that stuff is hard to get out if you want it out, since its like a wax stain,  anyway it looked bright for more than a month before it started to go all wierd and streaky green.  i dont know its wierd.
