Game Day at Clark Community College
« on: April 27, 2007, 09:09:49 am »
The Clark Anime & Japanese Club will be having a Game Day on Tuesday, May 22, from 12 to 5 pm in PSU Rm. 258 B & C.

If you can make it, that would be awesome!  If you need directions, or have any other questions, please feel free to respond here or PM me.  Either way works just fine.

All we'll be doing is playing.  We might have some tournaments with prizes available (we haven't decided yet, so don't quote me on that).

We hope to see you there!!!

ooh, games! Your school seems to have more Japanese-related events than any other campus I've seen so far. That's really cool though. I'm gonna try to come by, sounds like good times.

I can guarantee that we'll have a PS2 there.  Right now, we're hoping to get a Wii for the event.  However, if our club member that has it isn't able to show up, (he told me he may have to work that day), then there will be an X-Box available.  Well, it'll be there either way, but the Wii would prpbably be of a higher demand.

As for directions, here's how to get there from Portland.

- Once you cross the Columbia, take the Mill Plain Exit (Exit 1C) just after crossing the.
- Go right, then quickly merge to the left lane.
- Take the first left at the light on Ft. Vancouver Way.
- Continue past McLoughlin Blvd.
- Turn right at the third entrance into the Clark College parking lot.

The Penguin Student Union building, (where the event is taking place) is on the left of the big parking lot.  (The building to the right is Hanna Hall, & you can see the Andresen Plaza Fountain in between them).  There will be steps with handrails leading to the building.  Once you climb the stairs, go through the two sets of glass doors, then walk forward a little bit to see a staircase on the right.  Go up the stairs, & you'll see Room 257 & 258 A.  The Game Day is to the left of these rooms.

We look forward to seeing you there!

P. S.  If you have any game requests, please post here what you'd like, or PM me.  Either way works.  Also, if you want to, you can bring your own games.

 :D

I've stickied this thread and added the Game Day event to the Kumoricon calendar. Also, by being on the calendar, it shows up in the list of third-party anime-related events in the list on the main calendar page.

I'll be contacting various clubs shortly as I'd like to have more local, fan-run clubs listed on the calendar!

Thanks a bunch, Jeff!  I'll be sure to let my club members know about this!

On a side note, if my driving instructions seem kinda odd, I'll give you guys the campus address.  That way, you can find the directions on some serach engine or something.

1933 Fort Vancouver Way
Vancouver, WA 98663

This link here will provide you with a map of the campus.

http://www.clark.edu/maps/#campus_maps

From what the website says, you'll need Adobe Acrobat 5.0 Reader or later in order to view the map.

Look for Fort Vancouver Way & PSU, & you should be fine.

Quote from: "leashy"
Wednesday and Sunday for me! Haha Reppy and I should make our own Game Day

Do you work retail?! Because I do.

I'm seriously sooooo tired. :(

Last 3-4 weeks have sucked. I've had split days off every week. Or damn close.

Ever since Mother's Day weekend.. work has been crazy. Then the week after that, it was "Founder's Days" sale at Fred Meyer's.. so we had a bunch of really nice sales in the ol' produce department.

My manager decided that would be a great time to take a vacation. So, they filled her 45 hours/wk by giving me and a co-worker an extra 5 hours each (pushing us to 40 each) and about 20 hours between 2 people. And 16 of those hours went to someone that had never worked produce. EVER.

In case you're counting, they made up for her 45 hours by giving us about 30 hours. 16 of those hours went to someone that never worked produce once. 10 went to me and a co-worker. The rest went to someone who knows a little bit of produce, but was only there to break down the produce load in the cooler.

Needless to say.. I'm not sure if I got off on time once that week. Seemed like almost every day I spent 30-45 minutes overtime. Very, very sore.

And like I said.. we had some damn awesome prices on stuff. Especially if you were a fan of berries.

On top of that.. I also recently found out that our department is actually running 50 hours short of what it should be running. ^_^;

So.. having split days off sucks. It's like you need 1 day to recuperate and then 1 day to go out and do stuff. Except all I get to do is recuperate and then go straight back to work. Feels like I got my ass kicked and then did a full body work out or something. Even my butt muscles are sore. :(

Err.. and my back. It's stiff. But at least not in pain. Yay for chiropractors.

Tomorrow I'm going to be in Vancouver at the DMV to get my picture taken for my permit (yeah, kind of old -- 22 -- for a permit.. but in lil' ol' Battle Ground, everything is within walking distance.. including my place of work. So I save a lot of money by not driving.. but it's time to get my license, I reckon.)

anyways.. game day.. gosh.. I have lots of games. Same with my little brother. ^_^  Xbox, Xbox 360, Wii, PS2 ... uhh, Dreamcast .. DS .. PSP (only good for playing emulators, PSone games and watching anime on)

Kinda funny, I have lots of nice video game systems but I always find myself playing the classics instead. ^_^;

Edit: Err.. sorry for the rant. But sometimes I need to vent somewhere. ^_^;
