Speak of a Vallie and one shall appear...
Even if she should be going to sleep cause she has to work in the morning... >.>
1) Age is something we're flexible on with volunteers. Once of the staffers has a little brother that I think was going by the name emo kid and was helping with watching rooms at one point. I've got no clue how old he was and I certainly hope we didn't break any laws. Basically, if you're old enough that you can wander the con without an adult being by your side, I'd take you as a volunteer. However, as policies will probably be adjusted after the new elections, I won't commit to an age. If I say thirteen now and it gets raised or lowered, that would be bad, eh? Basically, I'd go by the idea that if you're over 15 you can probably volunteer without a problem. And if you're under 15, sign up on the forum post in the Get Involved section anyways and we'll at least know you're interested and will follow up with you once policies are in place.
2) What do you do? What ever you want. Seriously. You can do anything as a volunteer. Basically, tell us what you're interested in doing. Want to be a techie? Want to run some panels? Want to walk around and tell people to stand in a line? Want to sit in front of a room where people are watching anime and check for badges? Want to teach people how to make cat ears? We need volunteers for everything.
3) When you work, as a volunteer, is also completely up to you. You can do stuff with us during the year before con. Some jobs at con require you to be up at 7 am, like registration, and some you can just show up whenever. As we need people all day and into the night, if you goof off all morning and then pick up some shifts later in the afternoon or evening, that's cool. You would just want to let your volunteer coordinator know when you're ready to start your shift and they can let you know what's needed and where.
