Wii Remote sounds a lot funnier than Wii-mote....and don't discount the significance of a syllable. especially one that sounds so much like the one before it.
(BTW, Mr. Mustache: You're not the only one that calls it that. ^_^ all my friends call it a wii-mote, too)
I think both ways of identifying the object are essentially correct, as however you read it, you still know what is being talked about. It's a much better way of identify it than "that one thing with the buttons that you swing around in the air with one hand and control stuff with..y'know, on the wii" <-yes, I've heard a VERY hyper person call it that before.
