I just found out about this site and convention today -- I wish I'd known sooner; I'd have tried to have some works ready for it...

I have some samples, at least:

Why don't you bring in some art just in case? We might be able to put it up at the con if you can make it over. And I think we're in need of more art, so any piece would be welcomed. Nice anatomy figure to the girl one. :D And I'm sure there would be other artists interested in sharing works....

I'll see what I can gather for the con -- I may only be able to show up for Monday though.

I'd love to join the 'zine.  What are the preferred image specs for artwork?  I do some writing, too, though not usually fanfiction.

Looks like it's going to be just Monday for certain... But I'll try to have some work put together by then (at the very least, I'll have some sketchbook pages with me).  I'll also make sure to format some work for the zine.

What time are you coming in tomorrow? I think I'll be in the art room from around 8AM to 10AM, then I gotta rush off to work after that.  :(
If not this year, I hope you can make it in next year. We can swap our drawings or something. XD And do you have a web page that has any of your art shown at? Like DeviantArt for example?

I'll probably be showing up around 10 or so, depending on when I can get the morning's errands out of the way.

While there is little in the way of art there yet, http://www.otakurefuge.com/ is my homepage/site. I'm currently working on graphics for it, and then will start a 4koma. Right now, the site is still in development, though we do have a working forum for users to share art and ideas (including ideas about how the site should be developed). There is also a short description of the site's purpose currently on the main page.

I did put together a small page to explain Kaneko's origins, etc., and that can be found here.  I warn you that some of the graphics for the site are just placeholders at the moment, so it doesn't exactly have a very polished look.

The Portland Marriott in downtown Portland, 10:30 this morning. A happy Kyushu skipped down the stairs from the lobby, approaching a hand-drawn sign proclaiming "Registration", with an arrow pointing to the right. Three days of work had been compressed into two in order to make time for this. A frantic effort to scan and print artwork to bring had produced a small portfolio clutched in his hand, along with a small planner that contained, among other items, the fifteen dollars that would get him through the door.

He reached the bottom of stairs, turned the corner, and saw...the whiteboard.

"Registration closed. Only pre-registered guests will be admitted."

If anyone needs me, I'll be in the fetal position...

Ohh no.....that's terrible! You came in pretty early too. After all the work and anticipation...(o_O) I feel so sorry for you....!!(;_;) I left around 10:45AM for work, so I guess I missed you since I was in such a hurry.
(I was the girl in red shirt with glasses, black hair (asian look)
If I saw you, I could have just handed you my ID and you may have gotten in. XD;; I mean, I was only able to spend ten hours at the con due to unexpected work conflict (Labor day = VERY busy) missing out on all events. And obviously the three day payment was not met (at least in my greedy opinion ^.^;), so just curious if it was okay since I would not have been there to fill the space....
I'm most likely to get a definete "NO" for the answer with some explanations (which I am curious to know) but....

Still, I truly am sorry you could not get in..... I wonder how many people were turned down this year. I think the newspaper article really helped to bring people in.... Have we kept any record of this? I remember seeing group of upset people during my short stay. I know the number that came in this year was a surprising outcome, and it could not have been helped. Still I'm wondering how many we are expecting, and are allowed for next years con.

Actually, I'm just being melodramatic; I'm not too worried about it. I'm just glad that the con did so well -- I figure that means that it will definitely happen again next year and will probably (hopefully) be in Portland again.

Besides, I wasn't able to turn my hair blue for today -- but it will be next year.

P.S. Having the day off also gave me time to work on something for my friend...He requested a picture of his avatar for his bowling shirt, and I decided to have a little fun with it...I haven't had time to do shading, highlights, and effects, but I like where it's going:
