Your internet persona
« on: April 20, 2008, 12:26:42 pm »
Do you ever feel like your online self is almost a completely separate personality than your real life self? Or like your internet self has various personalities?

I suppose so yes, though it depends on who I'm around in both respects, though on the internet I feel that I can express my insane nature better which I tend to keep bottled up around other people...  As well as views and opinions that I would be rather bashful to share...

Also I'm new to this forum and is there a poll option?

I have about the same personality as I do on the internet as in cosplay.

...But it's completely different out of costume.  I'm that kid who sits alone at lunch in the middle of the cafeteria if none of her friends have that lunch and reads.
In cosplay, I'd be all "Hi people~!  How are yoooou~?"

I'm more outgoing on the internet.  :3

I'm pretty much the same, I think. I don't get why I'd have to act out of character on the internet if it's not who I am IRL

I'm a little wackier and zanier outside of message boards. I think I can make good jokes with the best of them, but it's hard to do them in a message board format. My humor tends to be a lot more dry in that case.

I can also talk a lot when I get on a topic I'm really interested in (ask Leashy when I was talking about my cats on the phone with her).

I actually tend to come off as a lot bitchier online. Probably because Im so easily irritated by people on the 'internet community.'

I swear Im really much friendlier in RL.

Within my group of friends, my ePerson is pretty much the same as my iPerson. To new people, I tend to be a bit more courteous until I find I don't need to be.

Fourthed, though my version of it appears as "Get the hell away from me" from everyone else's point of view D: I'm not an angry person too

I'm more animate in daily life, and more of a lurker/listener on the web.

Yeah, I'm pretty much the same as you all above me. I can come across intimidating and scary, but really I'm just uber shy and weird (in a dorky good way). Once someone starts a convo with me though, I'm good to go. ^_^

I like to be the same person in real life but it takes a lot of energy. If I drink plenty of caffeine and have a good night's sleep then yes, I am the same.

I am a lot more dynamic online because I have more time to pick my words and put all sorts of crazy emphasis on things that take a lot of effort to do in real life. You ever gone all caps with italics? It's like shouting and jazz hands all the time!
Whew!

I try to actually tone it down in real life so that people can get work done.

And I didn't mean Totemo or any one else who had posted here is scary, I meant I am like others in that I am somewhat reclusive. The scary part means I dress more often than not like something from Wes Craven's nightmare, lol.  ;)

I've been mistaken for a guy ... and been hit on. :P   So not on purpose.

I dunno if I come across the same way as I do in real life. I am more willing to be opinionated then I would be in a casual conversation, I guess. It is easier to get my thoughts across without being plowed over. Though, that completely changes in chat rooms.
