Anyone from U of Oregon?
« on: June 03, 2008, 12:41:21 pm »
Y'know, I've met some interesting new people in the...what, 2 days I've been here, and then I asked my self, "Self, how many anime fans do you think go to U of O with us?"  To which he responded, "Not sure, but this may be a good way to check, why don't you do it?"  And then I typed,

So, I'm curious.  Anyone here going to the University of Oregon currently?

Then I pressed the [Post] button.

I don't go to the U of O, but I do know some Kcon goers who do. They just aren't on the forums. Sorry. ^^;

Ah...I was wonderin' about that.  Probably some kind of anime club on campus, but I've always been too busy to look into it...wish I could have gotten into it though.

Well, since the original idea for the thread failed, how's it goin'?

Ah...see, I'm still kinda worried about that whole, "graduation" thing.

Good to meet ya though. (haven't seen you around here yet).

It's not as scary as you might think.  There is that period of time where you do go, "Whoa, I'm done!" before you want to get up and do something else.  (Grad. school, work, world domination, sometimes you can combine all 3, etc.)

No, architecture, music, and game design.  Arch and GD as my majors, MuComp as a minor.  I'm going to CCC to finish up high school (I need to take 4 more classes; this would be my senior year in high school), and work on an AS Transfer degree and an AS in CADD.

Heh, kinda.  I can definitely see working on combining all three of those.  Little bit of a time saver.  But I'll have to keep working to graduate first.  It's finals week, so of course I'm not studying like I should be, but I'll get it done I'm sure.

Sounds like you've got a whole lot on your plate my friend.  Any reason for those, seemingly unrelated, majors?

I went on a college visit there but ultimately decided on the University of Portland. ^_^
While I was at the dorms though (tour) my sister and I saw a Ranma 1/2 female poster thing on one of the windows. I was like "YES."

Unless I'm mistaken, Kumoricon was born at U of O.

They should still have an animu club.

K-con was born from the old TUNAC anime club at the UO. I ran TUNAC for a while and it just kinda fizzled out. They might have a club going now, but I hadn't heard anything.
And now I'm a catgirl?

The voice of the one I love
was all I could hear as I lay broken in the darkness
My own voice faltered
My wings no longer had the strength to fly

Awesome!  I'm going into my Senior year actually...god I'm gonna be so busy!  But it's cool knowing that there will be a few others there who share my interests.  Like I said, I'm sure there's a club here dedicated to such things, but I've really been too busy to find it.....plus, clubs (in general) kinda weird me out.

Don't be nervous.  It's no big thing until at least Junior Year.  The best advice I can give you is this..."College is NOT high school"  remember this, and you should be fine.

If you ever need any other advice (especially if you're a Psychology Major) don't hesitate to ask.
