The Recent Flooding
« on: January 08, 2009, 01:22:15 am »
Don't know how this is going for all of you Oregonians, but up here in Washington, it's pretty bad. School got released early yesterday, and is canceled today. Interstate 5 is shut down starting around exit....68, or somewhere around there. Anything like that going down there?

There's no flooding where I live because there was barely any snow in the first place.

There's flooding in Clackamas, and Highway 26 was shut down for a couple days during break because of a mudslide. Otherwise, I don't think it's that bad.

Yeah man. The Chehalis river flooded I-5. It's a really bad time for it to, too. I was supposed to be going to Seattle today to look at apartments. I've been preparing for this all week. I need to find a place asap in order to earn my housing funds. Without those funds, I'll have to wait until the day I start school to move in. Which I'm not sure will work out too well. =/ This trip was really important.

I know we live in the Northwest, but there is higher ground. You hear me old timey settlers!?
DON'T PUT YOUR HOUSE ON THE FLOOD PLAIN!

*ahem*
Sure the roads make sense but houses shouldn't be built on top of mud puddles.

I wonder how the highway outside Eugene is doing, the flooding gets so bad that in the 60s they put the highway on 12 foot stilts for a couple miles outside of town.

Eugene, is dry. We didn't get hardly any snow, and even less of the rain.
Stilts? Where? Which highway? I live here, and was born here in the 60s and I have no idea what you're talking about. Not that stilts would be a bad idea.

My mom, who works for Clackamas County's fleet department, and a team of seven other people, relocated 80 county cars cause the parking lot was flooded up to their knees.
I miss 2010.

I thought they moved all that stuff from next to Abernethy creek years ago, after the last one. Or was that only the road dept.?

Has your mother heard any rumors about putting in a football stadium next to Home Depot on the old Rossman's landfill site?
