Anyone going out to Radcon 2009?

They're in Eastern WA; I think Pasco.

Im totally interested. But WHY oh WHY do they have to do it on Valentines Day??? This will take much thinking. I love their theme though. Fractured Fairy Tales. LOL. I could have fun with that!

I would like to go but I don't think I would have any money or way to get there. How big is it?

I'm not sure, but I'd imagine it'd be less than a thousand

I wouldn't mind if it was less than a thousand but still close. I can't see myself driving all the way there for a con that is the size of mew con x.x

I'll be going. Personally I replaced Sakuracon with Radcon as my one WA-State convention on my annual schedule because: (my opinions only)

- Sakuracon seems too big now that it's in a convention center rather than a hotel it's not quite as fun as taking over a hotel with fandom.
- hotel prices are just about 1/2, and all parking is FREE.
- Much less chance of encountering creepy/dangerous people in Pasco than in Seattle.
- On top of WA sales tax and nasty hotel taxes, but Seattle has especially high taxes that they hit tourists with.
- Comparing the community politics of who will be receiving those monies, I'd rather it land in a rural community than an urban community; if I must part with the money I've earned, then (in my opinion) I'd prefer thinking about helping the families of farmers, ranchers, loggers, hunters, vintners, and miners than, say 'panhandlers for Greenpeace,' 'HOV-lane enthusiasts,' or 'food co-op members' or 'NPR listeners,' or 'bicycle commuters,' (but that's just me...)

Anyway I'll be running hours of AMVs out there, speaking on a few panels to boot, and possibly lending a few of my anime DVDs to their anime video track. And hanging out with some of the steampunk fans...

Radcon has been growing and diversifying (it's not just a 'bookish' SF con like Potlatch,) and I think this is their 5th year.
I don't know their numbers but they should be in the upper several-hundreds for members this year.

those are all good reason but personally I like the large crowds. Its a good chance to see many more cosplayers but having a small con is better for making friends ;D

I like large crowds too sometimes, but I'd rather do them in Oregon and pay less in taxes.
Years ago in the SCA I went to  Pennsic a number of times, one year they topped 10,000 members, and now it's MUCH more humongous ...
It's a couple-weeks-long camping event, and it was certainly a BLAST!
