Hi there,
Well, we definately won't be as big. We're shooting for about 1,000-1,500 people. We were about 500 people our first year down here in Eugene, so I think anything more than a 2x-3x growth would be too much for our small little bodies and minds to handle.
As for advertising, we're getting up to speed on that now that we have a website and SakuraCon is over. But I would not expect any serious advertisement until late May to early June. We really have too many other things to work out first... like, attractions. We have a few guests that are lined up, but we're unable to talk about who yet, and we have some sponsors in the wings that we need to do some finalization on. I think we really need to get those things taken care of before we go out and say "hey, we're cool, look at this great con in Portland". If we start advertising before that, people might response like someone I met at the table at SakuraCon, who basically asked "what guests are you going to have?" I said, "We're really not sure yet, but we will post on the web when we know". His response was to walk away.
In short... we'll make sure to send a shout out when we are in need of people to beat the street and get the word out.
Thanks for the interest though... give an email to the staff email listing in contact if you would like to commit to being a PR volunteer and we'll get you set up when the time comes.
