White Face Paint Suggestions?
« on: March 18, 2009, 04:08:32 pm »
Hey, guys, I'm in need of white face paint or face powder, and I have absolutely no idea where to turn to. I would prefer something that's not incredibly cheap quality and will flake of within the first five minutes or the like.

So what have you guys used or have your friends used that they liked? Thanks for your help!

This is for your Mononoke cosplay isn't it?
I love that show~ I'm really excited to see your costume.
If you're willing to spend money I would suggest Kryolan Aquacolor. The stuff is applied with a wet brush or sponge, let it dry and it won't come off for awhile. And you can even get some fixative stuff to make sure it stays put.

The stuff is great, I wouldn't recommended anything else.

EDIT: Just wanted to add that before I had bought any, I learned about it it from the leader of my cosplay group who cosplays as s-ko from Guilty Gear.
I figured I'd share a picture of it in action. She's the blue one:

Her whole body was painted blue. We painted her in the morning and only had to do a slight touch-up right before our photoshoot.

Anyways hope this all helps!

It is for my mononoke cosplay :) I found some other stuff that might work, but it's a powder. THe biggest thing I'm worried about it cracking and wrinkles.

The Kryolan products look really good, but I can't find a price for them. Do you know how much it cost if you don't mind me asking?

Your friend looks amazing! I need to cover my face, neck, forearms, and hands so that looks really good! Did she get a lot of out of one pot of makeup?

I was looking for the prices for you too and I couldn't find them on there either. You might have to register for an account to buy them, I ended up getting mine from a sale on cosworx so I never had to buy directly from them.
Googling I found a couple sites that sell it. That's around the price it should be on Kryolan too. I remember that the cosworx sale was 50% so I only paid $6 for my thing of it. Anyways here are the sites:

There's a lot of other links on google if you just type in "Kyolan Aquacolor".

And my friend got the 2.5 oz tin of it and she hasn't even gone through a quarter of it and she's worn it to I think 2 or 3 cons now. A little goes a long way so it's worth the price.

On another note I hear Ben Nye is a good brand of theatrical makeup as well, though I can't give an personal experiences since I have never used it.
