Kuroshitsuji Cosplay Help
« on: April 27, 2009, 09:55:14 pm »
I'm trying to find a cosplay outfit for Finian from Kuroshitsuji, but the only outfit I've come across is pretty expensive. I was wondering if anyone knew of another place than Ebay that has cosplays for Finian. Or does anyone know where to find clothes that looks like Finians. Any help towards getting this cosplay will be greatly appreciated. My friends and I are trying to be Finian, Ciel, and Sebastian!

I would check at a place like good will. They would have the shirt or a shirt like it that you could add the red edge to. They MAY have the pants as well. But there is also value village. I would just check resale places like that.

You can easily find red hair pins, gardening gloves and a pair of Wellingtons in stores around here.

Good luck putting your costume together!

The wig, hat, socks and gloves should be easy to find without having to make an modifacations.
The hair pins, irrigation boots, shirt and pants can be easily found as well and be made accurately with a few modifacations.
  • If you can't find red hair pins, just get some regular ones and spraypaint them.
  • I'm pretty sure you could get some irrigation boots at Joes, Big R, or a store somewhat like that. For the red stripe at the top just glue some ribbon or bias tap around the top
  • For the shirt, finding a white shirt that fits you the way his does probably shouldn't be much of a problem, just make sure that the sleeves are longer then you want them. Cut the sleeves, neck, and bottom if you need to and then add bias tape around those edges. You can hot glue those on or use fabritac. That will also stop the edges of the shirt from fraying since you cut them.
  • For the pants, find pants that color, or buy white pants and dye them with some dye. Hem the pants to the length you need or get a friend to do it for you. For the lines you can go to Joanns and get fabric paint (I think it's called Petal or something) and paint them on. Just remember to mark your lines off with tape or something so they are straight. Also put cardboard in the pants leg so the paint doesn't bleed onto the other side of the pants.
Pretty much the only thing I see being a little difficult with that costume is the, is that a gun holster or something? My boyfriend needed something like that for a costume so we just went to the toy section and a Fred Myers and bought a toy cap gun and use the holster in that. Unless you're as tiny as a 9 year old the belt probably won't fit you so sew together a strip of fabric in that shape (or get a friend to do it for you) attach some velcro and: Tah-dah! You have your costume.

I know I kind of went into detail but I hope that helps. If you have any questions on how to do any of this PM me and I tell you more.

Good luck~

That was very helpful. I'm looking into that now. The only thing I have a problem with is the short because I fail at dying clothes. I have access to the cloves and belt and other things like that. I'm probally going to just hit goodwill and second hand stores for the next few months.

@Figgles- Have you heard of RIT dye before? You can buy it at Joann's and from what I've seen of my friends using it, it looks really easy. They just threw some of the liquid kind in their washer with the clothes they had and let it run. The clothes came out great, just remember if you use that to run your washer again to make sure there's no more dye in the clothes.
Also if you mess up on getting a color too dark RIT also sells a fabric lightener so you can get it to the color you want, or so you can get it a bit lighter to try again.

EDIT: Also you probably will need to style a wig for the charater (Early in the morning and I goofed up on something, durp) I don't know how familiar with wigs you are but may I suggest amphigory.com if you plan on wearing one (which you probably should if your hair is not exactly like his). They take a bit longer then cosworx.com to ship out but if your looking for a wig in a natural color or short style I think they are the best you can go to.

Most of Finny's clothes are really basic.
that's a gardeners belt he's wearing.
The shirt like boogie said before just a white shirt. cut it add bias tape or something.
Pants...Either you could make them yourself or find something close to it ^_^
Rain boots can usually be found anywhere 8D
White gardening gloves and hat can be bought normally ^_^

Thanks again for all the help. I'm pretty sure I'll have no problem putting this whole outfit together in time for Kumoricon. ^^
