Question about the hotel....
« on: June 28, 2009, 11:36:21 pm »
Not sure if this is the proper place to post this or not, but how long does it normally take for the hotel holding the con to be fully booked? (that is if it isn't already :-\)

If someone could give me a general estimate I'd really appreciate it =]

The hotel rooms usually begin getting booked in the Winter, so the section allotted to Kumoricon usually gets booked up by mid-Spring. This is an estimate, though, as the room block gets expanded several times, generally. By this time, I'd say your chances of finding a room at the hotel are pretty slim, though. Your best bet (what lots of people do) would be to either look to room with people who already have a room there, or look at other hotels in the area.

So, in short, the rooms usually get filled up by Spring. The best thing to do is book your room first thing of the year, if not earlier.

Yeah, unfortunately. Within the next month or so, keep your eyes on the forums, because lots of Roomie-Wanted ads will start getting posted, so that would be your best bet, I reckon.

And it is always worth checking, call the hotel they may still have something. But if they don't there are lots of people looking for a female roommate.

I enjoyed my women studies class. It was a lot of fun. But it was just a suggestion, not one I thought you would take seriously ::)

If you're waiting to book your hotel room for some reason, don't. You don't get charged anything until you check out. A hold will be placed at check in. The amount will depend on if you're using a credit or debit card.

I really want to make the reservation, but I don't have any sort of debit card or anything currently so I can't so I have to wait for one of my roommates too and they aren't planning to for like at least another week.... I checked the hotel and they still have some rooms so hopefully I can get in =]

As long as I get to take a shower in the morning, and have a place to sleep, I'm good. xD
I'm just concerned about where we will all put our cosplay, because I think most of us have atleast four. Dx

I slept on the floor at last years Kumo-Con, and I woke up with a horrible back ache. I get a bed this time. xD

well we did. XD and we got the discount using the code and everything.
after seeing our standard size room for a really expensive hotel last tear, I was determined to take the larger option, since me and my friend have 3 cosplays each with some large props

The only time I've slept on the floor of a hotel room was back in Sakuracon 08 but the friends I was staying with got me lots of blankets! That makeshift bed was more comfortable than mine here at home! XD

Otherwise, I always book for Kumoricon in the hotels as soon as we know the code and split the price with roomies. Though, I am a bit confused with the layout of this year's host - are the towers not the hotel?

I've generally liked the Hilton hotel rooms - no traumatic experiences yet! =D

Ahh, I love the hilton. <3
It's so fancy, and pretty. :33
Plus, the event rooms are pretty big, so the daces this year should be fuuun. <33

The two buildings are part of the same hotel, but they are on separate blocks. They are directly opposite a corner so it's an extremely short walk. Those of you who may remember Sakura-Con in 2005 when they were at Sea-Tac across two hotels...the two buildings are much closer than that.

The main building contains most of the Kumoricon events. The executive tower has a small amount of Kumoricon events.

well that's good to know, that way we won't be running back and forth too often, and if we do, it's probably just like last year when we would go across the street to the park. Not that big of a deal, in fact, rather convenient!

it shall be interesting crossing that street on the first day with my wings XD
