Conv: ~Seattle on I5 - Car headding south Friday Morning - Carpool/Ride-share?

I'm planning to drive south on I5 from about Seattle on Friday the 4th.
I'm planning to drive north on I5 from to Seattle late Monday the 7th.

Is anyone interested in sharing a ride down and/or back?

These are roughly the terms I'd plan on following:
Gas for freeway miles for on-route I-5 between portland and ~Seattle, split among driver + adult** passengers about equally for miles shared.*
Any side-trip > 10 miles away from I5 'towards the destination' will be reimbursed fully by the causes of the deviation.



*Example: 150 miles between H18/I5 in WA and Portland Oregon (aprox): Passenger arranges to meet in or within 10 miles of H18/I5 and shares the full ride.  For those portions miles are split at the estimated 30mpg by my self the driver and that passenger.  Let's say that 60 of those miles are covered already and another passenger joins for the remaining 90 miles (and lets say they are within 10 miles of the freeway).  The cost of the remaining 90 miles would be split 3 ways instead of 2.

** Adult defined as anyone able to attend the convention without a guardian to escort them. Possible exemption for working adult + teens depending on car load by agreement of all involved before the trip begins.

Costs should be projected on the approximations of 30mpg (about what my car should get between here and Portland) and a slightly rounded up pump price at Costco (The good stuff at other locations I would pay more for).  From the prices along the road today the price at costco is probably about $2.90 / gal (or alternatively roughly 3 dollars for 30 miles).

Parking is currently estimated at $40 to $48 for the 4 days.  Anyone sharing a ride to and back would be expected to pay their seat's share of that parking (within the estimate).

This yield's ($10-$11) + Gas costs as noted above.

With one other rider already joining at Olympia WA the rough estimates are thus:

~Seattle to Olympia (40 miles, 2 people) 40/30*3gal/2people = $2, uni-directionally.
Olympia to Portland (Kumoricon) (~115 miles, 3 people) 115/30*3/3 = $3.83, uni-directionally.

The trip down (Seattle) without return trip = ~$6 (Existing passenger + 1 new passenger)
Trip down and back (Seattle) = ~$22 (Existing passenger + 1 new passenger)

Obviously additional ride-shares decrease the costs for everyone.

A rough estimate is 115 miles; likely 120.  At an estimated 30mpg that is 4 gallons of gas shared each direction; or just 4 gallons for both.  Combining that estimate with $3/gal yields $12 for the gas.  I still don't know what the parking situation will be like... actually I should check on that.

12 seems a little low, I'll pitch in $15 for the gas.

$12 for gas seems about correct, unless the distance covered in those 4 min is somehow greater than 15 miles .

However I still have no data on parking, and neglected to note it in my initial offer for the same reason.

For the moment I think $12 will cover the gas, unless it manages to go above $3/gal everywhere... Being labor day weekend, that is possible (though I do not think it will go above $3.25 or $3.50 at max).  The difference of $3 would go towards whatever parking there is.

Hopefully a really good rate is negotiated; otherwise public parking might have to be used (I hope there will be space!)

Ouch, $48 over 4 days.

If I leave later, to arrive at about 4PM then I'll have until 8PM Monday night at a non-insane rate.

Alternatively I could make a run to a Costco or maybe Frys or Ikea to waste some time.
