The Un-Official Cosplay Contest Thread~2010

I've been seeing a few people talk about who they're planning and wanting to do for the Cosplay contest, and I thought it'd be nice to have a place where people can talk about that ^^

This is mainly for those who are only doing costume judging. So whether you're getting your cosplay judged during a skit or just doing a walk-on, go a head and tell us who everyone should be looking forward to ^^

And if you're one who wants to keep their plans secret, that's fine. Go a head and just state that you'll be doing it anyways ^^
We'd love to see who'll will be in it, at least!

This is also a good place to ask questions about walk-ons...What is expected; should I have music; ideas for poses; etc...

I posted in the "official" (i think its official...) one, but I'll ask the same question here...

Does the art/ character referece that you submit have to be "official"? for example, my friend and I want to enter the contest this year with vocaloid outfits from a video, but there aren't really any official arts that are good on the detail. So we made our own designs. would something like that work? or other people's fan art?

(I saw your post there as well, that was mainly just for the rules and sign up, not really for people to openly talk about what they're doing)

I think it's fine. I can't really say, since I haven't ever done this before, or know exactly what they're expecting. But I've see/known people who did the cosplay contest as original design versions of characters.
That I can assume, the judges mainly look for workmanship and how well you did the outfit, and did you buy thing then change them or make it all by hand...etc.

The official people would be able to answer better than me, of course. But I think it should be fine. Kinky and I will have to do the same thing on some parts for Haku and Neru, so once you find out, let us know!

I was also confused about hearing this, because I was looking at video last year's cosplay contest and I think I saw someone enter as some original Alice in Wonderland designs?
Haley, we still need to email the people in charge to find out.

EDIT: Also, upon looking at video of last year's contest, the best novice group winner was the Chocobo Racers, and I'm 90% sure that they're original/fanmade characters.

Doing a walk-on in Vaclav, so expect some crazy Trinity Blood. I need to decide on music, but that's nothing more than picking the most awesome portion of the anime's theme song and burning it onto a CD.

D: I also need to turn in my form. It's done, but I just haven't gotten around to it yet.

I couldn't find an email, so thats why I posted in the other thread for Qs and As. still waitin for a reply, but I think it will be fine too. I remember the chocobo ones and if there were AIW ones then it would be a definate ok.

Oh, Haley and I were planning on doing it just the two of us for the contest. We're going to be making the costumes together and using the same materials and motifs and all, so we thought we'd stick to just the two of us since our costumes will be more cohesive, I guess.

You guys can totally enter the contest with the two of you if you want, though!

send in your entries! So far 6 skits and 11 costumes (some groups, some individuals... so costumes are filling up fast since we have limited judging time.)
