I'm tired of Bleach in general. I used to love this series so much but all the tedium killed it for me.

The anime sucks. Reason why is because of that freakin season long filler about the Bounts.  \

But the manga is fraking awesome. I never knew Ichigo's dad and everything was a soul reaper! That part was like WOOHOO.

meh, it was filler but it wasn't that bad, it was funny to see ishida all in love with a mature lady. The worst part was the part with ichigo crying about how he had to get better, oh wait that's all the time.

The manga stopped being awesome a while ago. They've been doing the same thing over and over again for the past 200 chapters.

Bleach is best when it focuses on the characters, when the battles are showcased it's boring, tedious, and repetitive.

I just feel like the worst part is there's no worry of anyone actually dying. The few deaths in the show are seen from a mile away. But other than that I love the show for it's intricasy even if they do spin the web a bit slow.

I think once you're on the same arc for 200+ chapters, you have a problem.

Right?  :D

And the dying thing. No one's ever really dead (except for Kaien and we only knew him in flashbacks...!) so it kills the suspense when characters get "mortally injured".

well personally I can't get into manga, i think it's boring and confusing in most cases... I get like one picture to figure out a whole fight that would've lasted a minute in anime. it's like looking through a magazine, and anime is like reading a book. to me it's not really a competition. So as far as the 200 chapters... I don't know.

Well the best mangas happen to be long. Just look how big Naruto is. But a great manga has to have a good pacing. That is what BLEACH and ONEPIECE dont got I think. Which makes them number 2 on my list.

Every novel actually has to have good pacing. It doesnt matter how long it is usually. Because look how thick Harry Potter books are and they are just perfect.

I think the anime's worse because in addition to the canon crap you also have filler crap.

One Piece is awesome opossum.

But really, Bakuman for the winnn. Best Shounen everrr.

I tried reading through the whole Vizard thing but just got bored.

Turn Back the Pendulum was interesting enough, but it wasn't very long.

Narunik, that's subjective. Claymore is epic and it's around chapter 100 (and it's been around for years, too), and I think it has much better art and a much better storyline than Naruto.

Also, spoiler alert. xP

i thought the harry potter books were written ok, but they were boring imo, maybe because I'm not young and don't like everything everyone else likes, for example twilight and such.

Claymore is pretty beast.

FullMetal Alchemist is also an amazing shounen manga but it's in a whole 'nother magazine so~

I loved Turn Back the Pendulum. A few chapters of blissful character insight then back to the monotony of a never-ending battle.

ooops.....Well sorry for spoiler.

Also that was my opinion. I think it's the best on Shonen Jump.

I am just obsessed.

I admit the 1st 60 pages of the first book was boring but that's because he hadn't arrived in Hogwarts yet.

+ Fullmetal is AWESOME. Its on VIZ though I think.

well if you really want to get into it, like every anime is just a series of villains/challenges to overcome, I don't see why bleach should bother you with the fights, dbz, trigun, all of it. There's always someone trying to ruin everyones day.

Though in America it's licensed by VIZ.

-note- Dragon Ball is what happens when a mangaka gets bored. ^_^ The mangaka says he makes it up along the way. Plus Goku means monkey and Gohan means rice. There isn't a V for Vegeta in the Japanese vocabulary. In any case. It is a action comedy.

again, all of it is made up, it's not like anyone from any anime is real, and if they are, they definately don't do those things that are done in the anime, because it's a fricking cartoon...

The confusion of Claymore being a Shounen has led to my involvement in this thread.

There are 4 major classifications of manga and anime.

1. Shounen: Marketed to younger boys, think 8-17. Tends to involve fighting, and adventure with brief hints of a romance.
Ex: One Piece, Bleach, Naruto, Dragonball

2. Seinen: Marketed to older males, think 18-35. Not limited to just fighting or adventure. Many are some sort of thriller. Any Romances will be more graphic and mature, so to speak. Ex: Claymore, Ghost in the Shell, Cowboy Bebop, Blood+

3. Shoujo: Marketed to younger girls, once again 8 - 17. Romance, school comedies, and Magical Girls are of this type. Ex: Sailor Moon, Oran High School, Inuyasha

4. Josei: Marketed to older females, once again 18 - 35. Romance is abound, along with thrillers and more soap opera type stories. Ex: Tramps like Us, Paradise Kiss, Most yaoi series.

There are 4 major classifications of manga and anime.

It's also worth noting that these are marketing categories, which are distinct and separate (though not uncorrelated) from genre categories.

2011 - 2013, 2016-2019: Secretary

True, True, but today's lesson was just on those 4, no need to get the people confused with adding in genres with it as well.

@Osla
Yep. The plot is much more complex and mature than your standard Shounen and there is nowhere near enough romance for a Shoujo or Josei.

The types of romances are different in shounen vs. shoujo series. Often as simple as the sex of the main character.

That's arguable. Most would say the entire show is about a school girl killing vampires with a huge sword.
The romance of Haji and Saya is second to that.
