General Meeting April 17th 2010

ANNOUNCING THE APRIL GENERAL MEETING!!

This months meeting is proud to be hosted by Clark College and their Anime club! We
appreciate their support! The meeting will be held on SATURDAY April 17th. Here
is the info:

Location: Clark Community College - Gaiser Student Center
Time: 1pm - 2pm (with time for breakouts to follow)

A staff event to follow our regular public general meeting.

General meetings are open to the public. Meet and plan with other staff, join staff or become a volunteer, and learn about open staff positions.  Bring interested friends!

This is the first meeting where 2009 members (staff) no longer count towards the quorum. In order to renew your membership you must sign up at this or subsequent meetings. If you can't make it to a meeting, you may contact treasurer@kumoricon.org and secretary@kumoricon.org to make arrangements.

Is anyone driving up from the general Eugene area, who might have space in his or her vehicle? Or is there anyone from this general area (or north thereof) who might be able to pay gas if I pick him or her up? Anyone? I just moved, so I am quite broke at the moment.

i am already assuming tom the fan boy will need a ride. If so then that is room for 2

My childhood best friend suicided, may she rest in peace, the funeral was this week in Chicago and I could not afford to miss work to be there, I am even more emotionally spent than I am broke. Quite honestly I will not know if I will find the $ or be able to make the effort to get that far north from Eugene, until Saturday morning. Steve Croxton, however, will be attending, who is my assistant. If I am not there thank you for understanding.

Thanks, hon. *hug* It actually worked out well; I had Steve attend the "meeting", per se, for me; then I attended breakouts & a bit of the party, followed by the Orycon meeting, which providentially was on the same day.
(FYI y'all, Creation Station will be running a room at Orycon for our 2nd year.)
I am *really* stoked about having a KC dog tag--finally something I can wear that will honor I'm "staff since 2003"! Woohoo!!

The wacky video of vegetables sacrificing themselves for the heroine's curry, I'm actually going to have to bring that up in a Jain (etc.) context for this year's Religion in Anime & Manga panel. There was discussion at the Tibetan Buddhist shrine where I lived--extremes from fruitairians to those who said eating vegetables was killing sentient beings as much as eating meat so why not eat meat......
