An odd suggestion for the guest reception
« on: April 08, 2010, 02:44:04 am »
I've been kicking this idea around for a while now...you guys know the show Dinner: Impossible? Basically, a chef has a limited amount of time to prepare a gourmet dinner for special events with some theme to them. He's done for Pixar, Crayola, Sesame Street, a pirate convention, a magician gathering, a hot-air balloon gathering, etc. But never an anime convention.

The way I see it, the hook could be dishes to represent various genres, but I suppose that'd be up to the heads if this happened.

But I'd say it'd be worth a shot. How about you?

This diner must be at the hotel, so it has to be catered by the hotel.  So, that isn't going to happen.

Even if I did not have that restriction, I doubt he is within my budget.

ah you have been reading my wish list! it would be so awesom!  it would be hard to apply to a con but yeah i have thought about this in wistfulness.  I am not sure how the specifics are handled but  on some shows the meal is a challenge, but also a reward for a large group of people who have worked hard or for giant feast a under privileged children , and done with the support of the location some times using only food available at the site.

That would be the coolest thing ever. I would die and go to heaven, other than doing  tango with Vic *fangasm*

But what restrictions would we give him. . .everything must have an otaku/japan thing in it or be it, Pocky, sushi, ramune, hello panda, etc.

Damn, forgot the hotel was anal about on-site food. Perhaps at a future location? Since I have no idea what something like that runs.

And like I said, my idea was themes based on genres, but the only thing I could really think of would that there'd have to be a naughty tentacles dish. Maybe traditional Japanese for historical series?

No, this is going to be the same at EVERY hotel.  Also, as I said, I don't have a limitless budget for this.  The main focus of the guest dinner is the meet the guests.  I don't think that doing something to distract from that is what people paying all that money would want.
