Portland Pirate Festival 2011 vs. Kumoricon 2011
« on: February 08, 2011, 09:27:43 am »
What upsetting news to find out that Kumoricon is going to be sharing the same days as this years Portland Pirate Festival! I love both & now I am forced to miss some of one for the other. There is no way I am going to skip the festival completely...was WAY too much fun last year! Looks like the group I am going to con with & I will be venturing away from con for a day to spend at the festival...gonna be a very eventful weekend indeed. Anyone other pirates here planning on sailing down to the festival for a day?

Damn, I wanted to go...But there's no way I'll be able to miss any of Kumo TT.TT

Oh well, I guess I'll just aim for next year...

Or maybe I'll just hold my own Pirate party for those who couldn't go XD

I think that those who want to go to the Pirate thing as well should write e-mails to the people coordinating it, so that they'll know that their scheduling needs some help.
My cosplay plans for 2022 (thus far): Vanir from Konosuba
My son's plans this year (thus far): Penguin Chiyo-chan from Azumanga Daioh

Might not be a bad idea...but if I just skip out part of a con day to go, I save the money of an entire other weekend in a hotel lol. But still, would rather do what I did last year & just go to both completely...

Yes I was very sad to hear of this conflict. My dearies' band has played there, though I don't know if they're going to again this year (Man Overboard). I LARPed in a pirate fleet in the SCA for years...still do...actually this was how I met TUNAC, before TUNAC --> Alto Nimbus -- > Kumoricon.......

What's going on with PAX?

Its been the same weekend at Kumoricon a couple of times. Pax east starts on same day k-con sept 3rd. Not the biggest deal as it seems that most people who go to one aren't the ones who would other.  Mostly I think its too bad because it would be awesome to have penny arcade as a guest but just not going to happen.

For the record you know what also starts september 3rd?....... My 29th BIRTHDAY!!!

Talk about bad timing. D: I wasn't planning on going this year but it does suck for those who were.

Uh...but....Crap, I can't miss both. This is really perplexing. DX And I'd feel bad missing some of Kumo to go to pirate fest for a day but I can't miss out on it. ;A;

It just dawned on me that KC, other than those with set-up obligations, is Sa-Su-M, while the Pirate Fest is likely F-Sa-Su (that's a guess).

If that's the case, then I might venture forth for a couple hours Friday. It would amuse me to wear my pirate-event garb to KC anyway!

If that's the case, then it should be fine for many people who'd have to face this decision.  (Doesn't matter to me personally, mind you,...)

Unfortunately that's not the case...PPF is a Sat/Sun only event so it will be going on during convention days only. I posted a link to the website in my first post incase people need some details.

Well that sucks. I really want to go to both but from what I have seen the Pirate Festival is more of a happening place on the second day.
