Props
« on: September 01, 2011, 07:41:26 pm »
Hello everyone~!
I was going over the final touches with my costume (I'm being a Splicer from Bioshock), and I picked up my wrench and realized that it's fairly heavy and could be dangerous.
So, I was wondering if I'm actually allowed to bring it o.o;
It's a fairly decent sized pipe-wrench and fairly heavy like I had said before.. it's made of metal too.
Do you think it'd be allowed? Obviously I would have it peace-tied and all that jazz and I wouldn't be swinging it around.

As long as it isn't big enough to block hallways and obstruct the flow of traffic, it's fine. It just has to peace-bonded, like you mentioned, and it will be good to go.

Haha, well it definitely isn't big enough to block a hallway or anything like that.
I just wasn't sure if there was some new rule I didn't know about or anything. (This is my 5th year to Kcon).

Thank you very much! :D

"Certain props are not allowed within the Convention Space. These include, but are not limited to:

    Airsoft or projectile weapons
Live (sharp enough to cut) steel
Props wide enough or long enough to inhibit flow of traffic
Replica weapons that do not comply with state or federal law
Paddles (all varieties—including “yaoi” or “yuri” paddles)
Props which impede personal or public safety"

As long as its not sharp enough to cut you should be fine,
And as for your cannon, you should be fine, just be careful in the hallways, I've had big props before and as long as you keep to open spaces, and as long as it doesn't stop people from walking by, it should be ok.
Planned Cosplays for Kumo 2015:
BB Hood - Darkstalkers
Umi Sonoda (Yume no Tobira ver.) - Love Live!
Bunny Maid TV Head - Original
Princess Bubblegum (Tart Dress) - Adventure Time
