Gilad Shalit is an Israeli soldier that was kidnapped back in 2006 by Hamas. It was a huge issue in Israel. He has now, JUST NOW, returned to his home!!! This is very exciting, especially here in Israel (though if I wasn't here I'd still be posting about it anyway).
This return does come at a cost - the deal was made between Israel and Hamas to trade Gilad Shalit for 1,027 prisoners in Israeli jails, a great number of which organized major terrorist acts. Also, now that Hamas knows what one Israeli soldier is worth, they probably are already planning to kidnap more.
That's the big news over here. Just thought I'd share.
